A Survey commisioned by Channel 4 News, says the Cons would now lose almost all of the Northern seats they gained in 2019, if the there was a snap election now . And will certainly lose them at the next scheduled election. Wonder what went wrong then ?.

It was only a throwaway quip.
SKS doesn't seem a force to be reckoned with at this stage.
Covid will never be "over" - at best it will run in the background like flu forever. Brexit will never be "over" until the UK comes to its senses, gets down and grovels to plead to rejoin the EU.
jackdaw was just having a joke, danny...don't be so up-tights
^^^^ Whaaattt???
That's just never going to happen, lol
which we won't do. Grovelling is not in our nature as far as i am concerned.
//Brexit will never be "over" until the UK comes to its senses, gets down and grovels to plead to rejoin the EU.\\

That will be the time that Hell freezes over.
we didn't grovel during Two world wars, came out bloodied for sure, but largely unbowed the EEC as it stood was a good idea, shame it escalated into the debacle it has become.
Roy, I knewe that, did you miss my :-)
strange to me that it was De Gaulle who didn't want us to join the EEC, in the first place. Yet how long did he spend in UK when WW2 was raging overhead.
"Cummings has left so is no longer a fact to be considered"

Jeremy Corbyn however has a half life on a par with plutonium it seems. :-)
thank god he is out of the picture too.
This is the old 'My house is worth a million pounds ... ' nonsense.

It's not.

Your house is with a million pounds if, when you decide to sell it, someone gives you a million pounds for it - and if not, then it's worth what someone will actually pay for it.

So this is merely plucking nonsense out of the air.

There isn't going to be a snap election, so the notion of how it would go is nonsense.

"Tomorrow - I'm going on a date with Liz Hurley ... "

Except I'm not going to get to ask her, and even if I did ...
not sure understand that last bit about Liz Hurley but keep dreaming
emmie - // not sure understand that last bit about Liz Hurley but keep dreaming //

I simply referred to a ridiculous scenario to illustrate the nonsense that surveys like this offer.

In the same way that a survey can say that the government will loose its seats in a snap election, i can say that I am asking Liz Hurley out.

The idea, and the realisation of the idea are not the same thing - just because people say they won't vote Conservative now is pointless - there is no snap election, and no assurance of a result.

In parallel - me saying I am asking Ms Hurley out is something I can say, but that does not make it true.

I am not going to have the opportunity, and she is seriously unlikely to say yes, so my statement is utterly meaningless - like the survey.
agreed
emmie - // agreed //

Steady!!!
i do sometimes you know...
if the country in 4 years or is it three, think that Starmer and the Labour people are doing a good job let them vote for them
Of course Labour needs to do more than just win back those seats if it is to win an election.

To say that the last Tory election win was built on sand tho was probably true odd as it may seem
