With her songs on subjects such as rape, suicide, female masturbation and male oppression of women, TORI AMOS was always going to be either a terribly worthy singer or a highly pretensious one.

i know she really is one on her own i think but i do admire her courage writing about rape as it was her own personal experiance

REM are up there .. as are The Doors (well Jim Morrison anyway). Some of the prog rock bands in the 70's were pretty ridiculous and Peter Gabriel era Genesis were some what ludicrous.
