Gyms are now allowed to open along with social distancing in place, this involves some of the equipment, being spaced out, and some in between not to be used, but is that really going to work, when we are told that droplets of the virus can carry in the air from nose and mouth. Someone exercising will inhale and exhale way beyond normal. Does this not just make distancing a bit silly.

The handling of the pandemic had been ok-ish, given the lack of past experience to draw on, at least in England, until recently when a mixture of relaxation of the rules and new unreasonable restrictions and demands were brought into play. It's become rather farcical since. It's as if government is scared to try to return to normal and has panicked.

TC, If masks are worn it shouldn't be a problem.
Masks are not required in gyms.
The Lycra will kill it.
Of course it's farcical - just like Boris's handling of this pandemic.

They are not wearing masks, at least on the gym they were showing on TV this morning, and no mention of such. Plus the other stupid idea was that the changing rooms are closed along with the showers, so you just come out in a sweat and jump in you're car. So you can spend 1/2 hours in one room all inhaling/ exhaling heavy, but when breathing normal you can't change or shower, madness in my view.
You don't have to go, Teacake
I'd hazard a guess that the social distancing measures are nigh on impossible to maintain in the changing rooms and showers?

ff, That really is not the point I'm making, but I think you know that, the point is none of this is being thought through at all, that person coming out of the gym in that state could be minging with the virus he/her has just got from the gym.
>Of course it's farcical - just like Boris's handling of this pandemic.

So would you suggest keeping the gyms closed, diddlydo? Until when? I don't mind either way- I prefer walking and running outside but some really miss the gym. I can see that a small risk remains but you have to offset that against the health (mental and physical), social and economic aspects.
Some people wear blinkers and can only ever see one side of an argument
I can guarantee that I won't catch coronavirus by visiting a gym.
Teacake, I'm unsure why gyms are any less safe than restaurants/pubs with all those people talking loudly- or should they be closed too?
I think it’s farcical that if you go into a bookshop you have to wear a mask, but you don’t in a library.

Where are the sensible people in this shambolic government?
Teacake- I was referring to your "but when breathing normal you can't change or shower, madness in my view". If you feel a shower is important to you, don't go.
I don't know why you don't need one in a library but why nitpick just to make a political jibe. You can wear one in a library if you want. And make sure you keep your distance. The pettiness on here is silly sometimes.

Well to keep it on the same thread, has the two go hand in hand. I went through a very big park during the week, and the kids playground was packed, along with hundreds of dads, moms, and nans.
Next to the playground are the toilets, ladies, disabled and men's in that order, they had closed the ladies and the men's, just leaving the disabled open, it said due to covid? I couldn't count how many were waiting in line at the disabled, it was ridiculous, so hundreds of people being forced to use one toilet, that is madness, where's the sense or logic in that?
Maybe they had one cleaner working to maintain the cleanliness- far easier to keep one toilet and basin clean than numerous urinals, pans and sinks. Did you check?

14.44 There were thousands exercising by walking during the lockdown, some miles apart, gyms are very high risk, common sense tells anyone that, we didn't need then then so we don't need them now, helping to spread the virus even more when there's no need.
I’m not being petty. I’m just pointing out the inconsistency and illogicality of the “rules”.
// helping to spread the virus even more when there's no need.//
Maybe you should wait before posting this until you have some actual provenance for it.
