Police Fly Gypsy Roma Traveller Flag ….
… in support of Gypsy Roma Traveller History month - and some people aren’t happy.

Helpful or not?
Time they stopped ‘taking the knee’ (ludicrous expression), flying flags and allowing flavour-of-the-month groups to demonstrate but not others. How about remaining neutral, officers, and just getting on with the job?

The second the Police take a political standpoint is the point at which the notion of “policing with consent” is critically and fundamentally undermined. The principal of consensual policing is that the police are the people and people are the police. It is predicated on the idea that the police represent everyone without showing favour to any one particular group identity. It is the most fundamental of social contracts.
By showing solidarity with the Gypsy Roma Traveller community, they break that social contract. By aligning themselves with BLM – or any other social group or political ideology – they break the social contract with the general population.
I fear that we as a people of the UK are heading in a very dangerous direction. The cultural Marxists have infiltrated almost every section of society. A wise Government would be prudent to come down hard on this blatant politicisation of the police.
If only we had such a thing as a wise Government.

When I was a trainee police constable, we had a couple of days being lectured by a 'diversity' tutor who told us that the “traveller community” were actually a brilliant bunch of law-abiding people who have been much maligned in the press for being a criminal group. He was at great pains to tell us all how bigoted and ignorant we all were for thinking that 'travellers' were capable of committing crimes. As a group of new PC's back in the early 2000s, we were told – unequivocally – that 'travellers' were fundamentally law-abiding people.
I had an issue with this overly simplistic view and I made my feelings known. I questioned why we were being told that travellers were mostly law-abiding when criminality levels spike when they're in a specific area (having done my homework on this issue). I was told to be quiet. I questioned why we were talking about this group rather than other marginalised groups. I was told to be quiet. I have no doubt that I was reported to my superiors. The fact that criminality levels (mostly so-called 'petty crime' such as thefts, criminal damage, burglary, etc.) do indeed spike when travellers descend upon a specific area is without question. All the available data supports this assertion and I made this fact know to the course tutor. To say he took these facts badly would be an understatement. Afterwards, a good number of my fellow student PC's thanked me for poking holes in the tutor's narrative. I learned later that the man giving the talk on the law-abiding nature of 'travellers' was himself a member of the 'traveller community'. So no bias there...
Are all 'travellers' criminals? No. Of course not. Are a signifiant number of them criminals? Yes – without question. Do the majority of law-abiding 'travellers' cover for the minority of law-breaking ones? Yes they do.

Sadly, minority groups, on after the other, vie for preferential treatment, and claim victimisation if their cause is not recognised, and funded by the all of the rest.
The cost of the crime and the clean up after travelers/gypsy/Roma is just another example of the tail wagging the dog.
This police action gives them undeserved legitimacy.

"So DD, what do you suggest is done with them? " - as I've said many times, give local authorities the power to move them on instantly after confiscating their Porsches in lieu of clear up costs. Make the country unbearable for them. Make the old bill enforce the law. Perhaps then they'd join the human race. For too long we've tolerated their thieving and lawlessness time to stop tolerating the parasites.
There are members of the Gypsy community who are in the police force. Maybe one of them was driving the police car. It can't be easy for them to be in the police force. Facing hostility and prejudice from both sides. Just like the black police . I agree that they should try to take a neutral stance but it can't be easy .
Hurrah!
I've been released from AB Jail, having been suspended by the censor on Saturday night.
I am fully rehabilitated, repentant and re-educated, and believe I now posses only the 'correct' thoughts.
Travellers are salt of the earth types, a nicer collection of people it would be impossible to meet, and there is no truth in crime rates increasing whenever they harmlessly and temporarily use somebody's land (for which they always seek consent before doing so), they pay all of their taxes, their cars are all insured and they fully participate in society - we are better off because of it.
I love 'em.

Some do have fixed abodes.
I'm not sure if their organisation is still going, it was established some years back.
