Time they stopped ‘taking the knee’ (ludicrous expression), flying flags and allowing flavour-of-the-month groups to demonstrate but not others. How about remaining neutral, officers, and just getting on with the job?

I’m a member of a rugby club and ‘travellers’ decided our fields were ripe to camp on. This is a private club. The council weren’t interested, the police weren’t interested, so it cost cost thousands for the club to bring an action to get them off our fields. The court bailiffs were successful in ridding us of the vermin, and the crap they left cost is O00s to clear up.

They are total scum.

So to see a police authority do what they’ve done irritates the crap out of me.

Like any animal, show it kindness and show it you don't mean it harm, and it begins to domesticate. The same thing could be with travellers. Show them you want to work with them, and they may start to be less invasive.

It's surely worth a try. What's the alternative?

^ No they haven't. The Roma came here 500 years ago from India. They (and Gypsies)have been part of the fabric of this country for centuries. Irish Travellers haven't. You can't class them together as they are distinctly different groups
