Royfromaus - “You too seem to have omitted why you would have run from these people. Why would you have run?” If you're talking to me (it helps if you make this clear) then my answer would be – I wouldn't have. I would have stood my ground – unless I was specially ordered to gather info only and retreat if confronted. The day I kneel before a baying mob of fascist,...

My Dad was in the RA in the war and one of the jobs that he would talk about was the task of getting specialist observers up to the front lines and back. There was no video them, no cloud storage, and verbal wireless communication would have been heard. His job....his one job was to get the intel back safely to base...and it was in human heads. So no heroics...no turn and fight...it was hide and run and hide. If it came to a fight then things had gone badly wrong. If things had gone really bad, his job would have been to keep the observers out of enemy hands...he used to say he was grateful taht it had never come to that. Same with these guys. Their job is intel, not to look good on the videos or to impress the public with their bravery. One job.
Would you have this if they’d turned and had a knife stuck in them? They did right to run!!
ROY is all talk but not actually saying what he would have done, other than not running off.

Perhaps he would have relied upon his debating skills and command of the English language to argue the rights and wrongs of the protestors' viewpoints...
Roy’s lost all faith in the police but I’m rapidly losing all faith in people. The criticism should be aimed at the hooligans in that video. Morons!
"ROY is all talk but not actually saying what he would have done, other than not running off"
Roy is not a policeman so why should he say anything about what he'd have done? It's not about what a member of the public would have done, these guys are policeman and we expect more of them whatever their role. If the defence is it was just info gathering and they weren't in a position to carry out their duties they should have dressed in civvies.
I imagine in situations like this the police have been instructed to refrain from doing anything that could be regarded as confrontational - so that's what they did. It seems sensible - well to me at least.
Since ROY is not a policeman how would he know the training and advice given on how to act in that type of scenario.

He is critical of their actions but hasn't said what else they could have done without likely physical assaults.

You don't think they were in danger of 'physical assaults'

Or as I said earlier, your mentality won't allow you to criticise thugs you support.
" If the defence is it was just info gathering and they weren't in a position to carry out their duties they should have dressed in civvies" prudie my understanding is that information gained in this way (undercover) cannot be used for prosecutions, in the same way that speed cameras must be clearly visible.
00.53 . Hey shoota you can not have all the Glory . What about Retro?.
I will still defend the police and I have not lost all faith in them.
So next time you have trouble you wont expect them to call round.
Interesting that a mod said something (which I obviously can't repeat)
The 2 people that repeated/questioned what he said had their answers removed. The original post is still there.
It's like being on twitter.
Spicerack i see you're still a newbie. Dont try to ever oppose the favoured few/ mods.Enuf said.
I used to defend this government, but lets face it with them changing the laws on a daily basis over the last 3 months, I wouldn't think the police know any longer whether they are doing right or wrong, I wouldn't be a copper now if they paid me 100k year.
Surely the powers that be would have had some inkling of what may happen as a result of sending 2 uniforms out 'intel' gathering in this way. If they had to wear their uniforms, then they should have been within the safety of a vehicle. As for the running away. I'd have done exactly the same thing. And not because of a sense of duty to get the intel back to base. Just for my own good health!
I feel sorry for the two policemen, surrounded by a swarm of cockroach like pestilences.
00:29 unbelievable to me too. They were just a bunch of moronic thugs on that video.
spicerack if you have a problem then why not just say so
