Statues being taken down, 'Gone with the Wind' removed from programming, BBC not showing anymore Little Britain sketches, and last night I was presenting an online quiz on Facebook for some family members, one of my picture quizzes was Heinrich Himmler, directly I posted the picture Facebook informed me that I would be barred from their site for 24 hours due to the offensive photo!
Is history being wiped, surely history must be taught to avoid these things happening again.

'no discussion just pure vandalism'

I believe there is a review of statues and the names of concert halls etc?
///If a black person or BAME person came on here and said GWTW and various statues were genuinely offensive to them, would any AB members appreciate that and understand why that person, and persons of their race, might want them to be less accessible or removed? ///

Absolutely not.
Witness the accusations of 'chips on shoulders' trotted out with embarrasing frequency by far too many ABers when their prejudices are challenged by sp1814, for example.
So you wouldn't appreciate that someone could be offended, JTH?
PP
If I interpret your usual inaccurate nonsense correctly it was Wing Commander Guy Gibson VC of The Dambuster's fame and film who owned a Black Labrador of the name you gave it.
Group Captain Douglas Bader did not have a dog featured in Reach For The Sky.
Incidentally. The grave of the dog can be found at RAF Scampton where he was buried unless BLM vandals have desecrated it recently
Honestly, a BAME person whould be hounded off of AB for trying to explain why things are offensive to them.

Some people do not want, or care to know the reasons.
I don't think JtH was disagreeing with the suggestion for her own part, ZM. AB as a community is filled with people, probably myself included, who've already made up their minds.
You don't see anyone removing or condemning the film "white chicks"
You've read my post backwards, zac.
I *absolutely* appreciate and understand.......I just don't believe that too many more would.

Many times sp1814 has tried to make people think about things, he's accused of being 'chippy/having a chip/bag of chips' on his shoulder.
That's because it's so objectively awful that nobody watches it anymore anyway.
//You don't see anyone removing or condemning the film "white chicks" //

I would. It's very, very unfunny.....and was very, very unsuccessful.
Danchip. Really? White Chicks was absolute trash.
OK, apologies.

I sincerely hope the AB demographic isn't represented in the real world, otherwise we're in for some serious unrest.
"If a black person or BAME person came on here and said GWTW and various statues were genuinely offensive to them, would any AB members appreciate that and understand why that person, and persons of their race, might want them to be less accessible or removed?"

One can understand folk wanting something but their inappropriate offence taking is no justification for them having their desire by imposing their demands on society. Better by far they learn to stop being offended at that which no one need take offence to.
I haven't seen anyone making any 'demands', OG. Could you post a few examples?
Perhaps you should explain why it's unreasonable, rather than merely insist that it must be so. Maybe you have a coherent argument, but you should at least make it.
"Avatar Image youngmafbog If said BAME person explained why then yes I am sure many on AB would understand.

But that is the way to do it, the problem we are having is there is no discussion just pure vandalism."

The "Discussion" about Colston and GWTW among other things has been happening for years and getting nowhere.
You explain why it's unreasonable to take offence at a tangerine.

Some things are so blatantly obvious one hardly knows where to start explaining.
Go on, OG. Try.

Give us a few examples of BAME people 'demands whilst you're at it.
"and getting nowhere" translated to; "those complaining weren't getting their way". When in reality their view had clearly been rejected and they should have accepted that. Anyone would think they were remoaners, or something.
Found any 'demands' examples yet, OG?
