We all know that the pension age for women born in the fifties has been raised. Did you know a campaign called "Back to 60 movement "has won the right to a Judicial Review and is taking the DWP to the High Court ? On the 5th and 6th June they will attempt to get the 3.9 million women justice over non consultation in raising the pensionable to 66 and above. Michael Mansfield QC will lead the case and the argument for the movement. However there does not appear to be any media coverage regarding this significant event. That is why I am raising the awareness now. Let's hope and pray for justice rightly deserved.
Seems to be a media blackout on this issue which suggests that the government have put a block on the media reporting it.

I think people like me who get the Old State Pension rate have been unfairly treated. The New SP is now £175.20/wk and I believe you have to work 35 years paying NI to qualify for full rate. Old SP is now £134.25 for people who reached SP age before 6th April 2016.
And we had to work more qualifying years to get it.
APG, I really do get your point about people not wanting to be forced in to retirement whilst they are still fit, active and enjoy their work and may well need the money. A compromise would have been the choice that people coming up to retirement age have now - the right to carry on working and defer their pension if they want to.
some people did have that choice. My sis is older than me and she deferred and worked on in the NHS.
Or get both... there is no reason they should be related really, if you are entitled to a pension and claim it, but choose to carry on working, you'll pay more tax, but I don't see why it has to be one or the other.
I will not even get the £175 per week (and I`ve got to wait until I`m 67 for that) because we made provision for ourselves by being in a company pension. I will only get £150 pw and that is after trying to play catch up by paying increased taxes over the last several years.
I can well believe it, 237. When I had my first baby at 20, I was not allowed a pension, as I was home looking after him, while my partner was allowed one as he was still at work. Even though it was a joint account.

I was very annoyed when I found out that I couldn't retire at 60 & had to wait 36 more months. What made it worst, my colleague whose birthday was exactly 1 week before mine, was allowed to retire. All my plans went up in smoke.

Ladybirder, I agree wholeheartedly. I retired at 60. I had also paid into Serps and another scheme to enhance my state pension. It now amounts to £160, less than the £175.20 that is the standard rate now. People dont seem to realise this. No-one is fighting for our rights !

It only takes five minutes on Google to check something like this. Why can folk not take the time to check the facts before passing it on?
But why TCL, people are debating and that’s what the site is for, fair enough Google might give you the answers but then there wouldn’t be a debate on the subject then, would they?
Apc I also paid into SERPS, for 18 years I think it was but I do get more than you. No wonder you are cheesed off. I worked until I was almost 68 but of course I didn't pay NI after 60 but paid more tax. When I heard about the New SP I thought I would get that plus my SERPS. I was wrong.
BOBBI, the claim was that there is a Judicial Review due in a few days time, there appeared to be a media blackout of that news suggesting the government had blocked media reporting.

None of that is true.
And that has been established, I get that, but the whole issue is still worthy of debate
TCL, sharon already apologised for that. But the problem is still there.
// Why apologise Sharon, whether it’s this year last year sometimes never, it’s still a debatable issue//

has this case been heard? is a bit of short debate ( yes )
has it been appealed - the answer to that is yes, appeal pending
doesnt anyone read my c/p of Hansard ?
and no you arent in appeal allowed to go thro the old arguments that failed last time - they have to be new ( judge mad - counsel lied etc)

and if you can show that you have been misled into paying less whilst you would and wanted to pay more ( see above)
I thought THAT had been heard, maladministration, and they had succeeded - and no I am not prepared to trawl thro the internet to find out
// None of that is true//
yeah I agree
that has been nailed
and someone has said - yeah but no but - there are a few other things ....

appeal pencilled in for Jul 20 - watch this space
the oral testimony and arguments will be reported by day if a hack or journo understands them
and going by the past ( and covid rtpg) the answer may be no
- - - not printed because the ed doesnt think it will sell

no govt black out
PP, there’s nothing worse than those who ‘pick holes’ in someone else’s thread , just go with the flow
I was very annoyed when I found out that I couldn't retire at 60 & had to wait 36 more months.

oh that one - it was argued ( "the cause of action") on age discrimination. "there is discrimination by age and this is unfair under the statute" - and I thought -- - - - yeah but no but - the way out is 65 for everyone
and that is what the judge said

and when they appealed - - I thought
"on what grounds - the arguments are pretty straightforward"

and the judge initially refused grounds

and there was so much squawking ( and waving of white cockaded hats - and shouted phrases like "when the judging stops, the shootin' starts!" that the judge said o god OK

and if kicks off Jul 2020
// PP, there’s nothing worse than those who ‘pick holes’ in someone else’s thread , just go with the flow//

yeah dere is - -

yeah OK - me wrong and the girls right - fiat justicia baby!
amen
