Letter in the paper from a meals on wheels driver.
He had to deliver a meal to a very old lady on Christmas Day.
He knocked on the door, the family were all having their Christmas dinner in a real festive situation.
The old lady was upstairs in her room, all alone. They hadn't even given her her dinner from their kitchen. The driver left her dinner with her and had to leave.
What a sad state of affairs when a family cannot look after their own.

Strange.
Maybe she didn't want to join them ?

But the family could have served her from their fare!
Maybe she didn't want to join them

Possible, but surly one of them could have taken her a dinner upstairs.
Local paper?

Good job I looked before I posted. It had changed to I honk!!
I'd prefer a link.

Have to be cautious with some tales.

If true, it's awful.
If what the letter says is true then yes it is very sad and they should be named and shamed but that would get the driver into trouble as well. There is probably more to this than we know so will wait and see how it pans out.
Which paper?
Question Author
Not good with links Mamya.
It was in today's Daily Mails letters page. Titled age of indifference.
I cannot say that Roger is not telling the truth about what he saw years ago - there are some neglectful people.

Thank you Mamya
sad story if true...
perhaps, like me she hates roast dinners. Perhaps, like me she is frugal and anti-social!
Perhaps she wasn't a relative of theirs
What's that got to do with the price of fish bazile?
My cousin who is in her 70's was invited to one of her daughters for Christmas and also one of her nieces, she turned both down because she knew from past experience how noisy it would be with children and dogs. So, her niece brought her a Christmas dinner on the day and her daughter brought her a dinner on Boxing day. My cousin was very happy with that as she got to eat her dinners in peace while watching her choice of TV programmes. When I asked her if she missed being with the family she said No, she can see them any other day of the week.I was wondering though that if her neighbours saw her meals being delivered they might come to the conclusion that she wasn't invited anywhere and of course, that wasn't the case.
