I was always led to believe that members of parliament were honour bound to swear allegiance to the queen,
Doesn’t say much for our SNP member crossing his fingers while taking the oath of allegiance,
Rather stupid and childish gesture.

was that what he was really doing, if so that isn't right at all.
Yes, stupid and childish.

If they don't want to swear allegiance to HM then they should not become MPs.
The late Tony Banks, Labour, did the same.
That being a condition is fairly childish in itself. Not everyone supports the outdated system, and ought not be denied the ability to represent their constituency because of it.

But it is "Her Majesty's" government, OG, not their constituents. IF MPs want such a constitutional change they should ask the electorate whether they want it.
He'll take the Queens money though!!!!
Probably hoping the Monarchy will go in his lifetime, Tough! They’re here to stay . GOD SAVE OUR QUEEN
It may be supposed to be the monarch's government, but in practice royalty just confirms the policies elected by the government. It's all a nonsense, it's really the citizens' government pretending to be otherwise. (One may as well suggest MEPs control the EU.)
I think you need to brush up on your "British Constitution", OG :-)
Huh! She's worth 50 of him !!
He was making the sign of St Andrews cross
It may be HM Government but it's not HM Parliament. I don't think they should swear allegiance to the Queen. To country , maybe.

if that's as you state, why is Jeremy Corbyn referred to officially as "The Leader of Her Majesty's Most Loyal Opposition"?
It's a bit of a stupid thing to do anyway, because the Queen would never prevent Scottish independence from happening, so there's no contradiction there, and no need for a childish gesture.
