Is this a sensible initiative? I just hope they don't give too much away. How do they know they are not feeding a future Jihadi with imformation 'how not to behave' at a potential attack.
Our latest Jihadi was known and immediately recognised by security but they didn't stop him walking free, killing and maiming.

I'm pretty sure that all of the information will be out there in the public domain somewhere.

All this does is bring it together so I think the benefits outweigh the risks
I don't think this is a good idea at all,
we could indeed be training up some future jihadi
who will be able to simply go about his or her
daily lives, then strike, very uncomfortable with it
It will be like neighbourhood watch! Anyone that doesn't look 'normal' will be a terrorist - I can see it ending badly
On the other hand I can see it ending badly if something is not done. For instance every Asian looking person with a beard is suspected.

I don't see a problem with it.

Making people more aware of how to prevent being burgled or defrauded doesn't give burglars and fraudsters any useful information that they don't already have, and I see this as a similar thing. Just raising awareness.
I'm not sure the general public can be trained well enough to be "helpful" without, as you say, giving away a lot of information, techniques, etc. They would need to be very carefully screened, anyway.
so carefully screened, but how well, as been proved with Usman Khan, he murdered under the banner of wearing a tag which proved to be ineffective.
Would a civilian with CT training be able to go above and beyond the normal law that a citizen has to abide by? If not then what's the point? If so then how can it be proved you have CT training before someone stops you from acting?
I can see one of these CT's being shot dead by accident.
It looks like private individuals can register...I had to say I was a manager.
I think it depends what is in the training which is why I signed up to do it. It might be a good idea, it might not. I don't think it gives you any more rights or responsibilities than any other citizen though...you can take it online.
//The training features modules on how to identify and deal with a suspicious item, what to do in the event of a bomb threat and how to deal with firearms or weapons attacks.//

Sounds sensible enough.
I don't think it will give away any secrets. It's only a part of what some of us have been practising in our daily working lives for years and years. Nothing new really.
