Desperation.
As far as the election date - probably.
70 constituencies that none of them are going to win.
That’s a lot of deposits saved.
Ceredigion will be interesting who stands...

2017
Plaid Cymru 11,623
Liberal Democrat 11,519

Be interesting to see how long it lasts after the election, assuming a few get in of course.
Isnt that a subversion of electoral procedure in that they are denying people their right to choose who they vote for. It might be a shot in the foot.
Parties aren't obliged to stand in all constituencies, so no, it's a feature of the system. Folk still choose between those standing; and have the right to abstain if they have no wish to encourage any of the candidates. Such a strategy smacks of desperation though. And gives reason for opponents to do similar if they have the sense to.
[ A pact not to stand against each other ]

* Except when Farage suggests it to Johnson.
Of course not, as then it's to counter this remainer one.
It’s an electoral pact (like the one the Tories and the Brexit Party apparently aren’t going to make).
It doesn’t need to last after the election.
If the Tories election campaign continues in the same disastrous vein in which it has started then I’d not be wanting to make too many predictions about the chances of the opposition parties.
