or good vibes...anything you have got for the crew of the Stena Impero. I used to sail in and out of the Gulf with my husband many years ago and there was always a little unacknowledged feeling of relief when were finally in open waters again. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-49053383

Woofgang/Theland, I really enjoyed reading your conversation. Very interesting. Thank you for that.
Me too, it's a dreadful situation and I pray that the crew will remain safe

We have our moments on AB but there is much goodness of heart here
I thought it rather in sensitive when the TV news announced that although the ship is British none of the crew were British, as if they were only concerned about the ship.
Many families of British people on board tankers will be concerned. The comment will have reassured them.

OG, I think it means that what the diplomatic service can do directly for the crew is limited.

I would have thought that the families of tanker crews, would be aware of the name of the ships that their loved ones were serving on.
Time has now come to build a Suez type canal south of Oman and so avoiding the narrow Strait of Hormuz.
Not quite sure that works geographically. Or does it?

Suez type canal.....where ships could not get stuck as per the Suez crisis?
I hope the crews are safely returned to Safety as were the Royal Navy ratings who were illegally detained by the Iranians for ‘allegedly’ entering Iranian waters.
I hope the Royal Navy eventually ‘praise the Lord and pass the ammunition ‘ when they demonstrate to these pirates how we deal with rogue Navys a la mode d’Oran. Next time they bring their speedboats out to play in International waters they should be blown out the water once and for all. Iran does this all too often and diplomacy isn’t stopping it.
When you have an idiot of a US president that spends his time on twitter, instead of oiling the cogs of diplomacy, expect more problems.
Building a canal It would seem, is not a bad idea.

The constant harrassment of US shipping (remember the most most publicised seizure and humiliation of Americans?) by the Iranians stopped once Obama left office. The latest provocation is, of course, risk free. What are glove puppets like May or Hunt going to do about it?
I hope the crew are released soon like the other tanker was.

What has triggered these actions? I heard that the UK seized an Iranian tanker near Gibralter at the US's request. Is that correct or have I misinterpreted this?
The "seized a tanker" bit is right.
Thoughts, prayers and warships might be more effective.
I would hope that the British Gov don't get involved with any of Trumps cobbing, and lets face it, at the moment the British Gov don't even know their left foot from their right just now.
Trumps "make America great again" actions seem to be dividing the US just like Bexit has divided the UK. I would like to think the British Gov are not becoming the US's puppet.
In view of the escalating crisis with Iran, perhaps our authorities should now consider taking a more stricter action, when allowing in these Iranian migrants who are now crossing our channel in increasing numbers, in their small boats.
