Four shootings ,two fatal, since Friday in London. Looks like gun crime is playing catch up with knife crime. Not confined to one area. Anywhere and everywhere.

pp --I recall in the 50s being able to go out and leave the door unlocked. No graffiti adorning the town. No vandalism. Respect for older people, policemen, teachers . Petty thefts usually carried out by people known to the police. No dropping litter on the pavements. No smoking on the lower decks of buses. No being drunk in the streets or you would be taken off to...

ummmm//He said 'he's not even 35' !!!//
That's my point.Who calls a near 35 year old a youngster?

In my opinion.. A lady wouldn't say "If i wasn't a lady i'd tell you where to go."

That is because you were not alive then so why dismiss those who were alive in those times and are in a better position of knowledge to reminice about it. Perhaps you are calling us all liars? By your own admission you don't even read a daily newspaper.

Back to the thread.
Whilst you were/are growing up with your circle of buddies or mates did you ever challenge each other to achieve points by causing serious wounding or death to others thus gaining respect within your gang and getting up the league ladder?

None of your teachers should have been allowed , spath.
And your history teacher should be doing a life stretch.
Spath, it makes no sense to argue that you know better about life before you were born than people who experienced it first-hand. They were there – you weren’t.

About 13% of the UK population are from ethnic minorities. Disproportionately, 26% of the prison population are from ethnic minorities.
What do the conviction stats show?
I'd be interested to see the conviction rates by police force considering the wide variation in arrest rates.
Don't know if those figures are available. You could try googling.

/// In the 50's you wouldn't have a clue if bill 50 miles up the road was stabbed to death. ///

What a load of twaddle you do speak, in those days we did have newspapers (which obviously seems a surprise to you) both local and national, and we also had the News of the World, yes nothing passed their coverage.

I lived in a fairly big town and once a man took his girlfriend to a local hotel, so as to commit an illegal abortion on her, consequently the woman died, the crime was plastered over the local paper, it also reached the daily nationals as well as the Sunday papers. The hotel at that time became very notorious, and people would crowd outside just to take a look at it.

By the way Spath we even had radios way back then.
Capitalists demand more cheap labour, hence the mass immigration and who gives a hoot about the social consequences? Profits rule.
"Spath, it makes no sense to argue that you know better about life before you were born than people who experienced it first-hand. They were there – you weren’t. "

It does actually. However, I've never said "I know better". There is a bias of "my era was better" when it comes to these types of debates regarding crime. The best way to look at it, is analytically. And I have provided parliamentary analytics.

My only point on this thread was to AOG at 12:04.

The rest is call and response, and irradiating false implications.

AOG, thank you for the response I've been eagerly waiting for.

"By the way Spath we even had radios way back then."

It was retro that implied you didn't, not I.
"the crime was plastered over the local paper"

//s What crime? Have you not heard? There was no crime in the 50's!

//s What crime? Have you not heard? There was no crime in the 50's!

Now you are really making yourself look stupid with that remark. No one has denied there was not crime in the 50's. As explained,by those who lived in that decade, it was not as prolific as today on a wholesale slaughter.
BTW. Still awaiting your reply from my post @1306
Retro //s implies sarcasm.

Your question at 1.06 was one i assumed was rhetorical. The answer, if you need one is No.
Vending machines on the outside of shops were quite safe in the fifties.

You assume incorrectly. Would you believe what I wrote at 1306 to be true and the fact of the matter is that Gangs have a point system depending on the wounding to gain 'street cred?'

I was just assuring that we had radios and newspapers, because you said that if a person a few miles away was murdered we wouldn't get to hear about it.

Don't make such silly statements such as that, and then persons would have no need to educated you of the past.

Both you and CORBYLOON still state that immigration has not been the cause of increase crime in this country, and have also asked for proof.

One has only to read the papers, listen to the TV and radio news to reach the conclusion that immigration is the problem.
