Is there any more reason needed to end this disaster? The effects are real. The cost is great. Time to stop this madness.

The fact that I posted this in Chatterbank ought to give you a clue as to how serious I am being.
Enough to drive you to drink...
Sorry Jim , that conveys nothing to me.
We call them turnips around these parts.
Ha-ha.

Then I'm not being serious.
//due to Brexit she was unable to apply for benefits which meant that she had to get a part-time job//
enough to drive you to drink ...
Jim, got it now, bur your post was so out of keeping with your usual Remainer scare mongering that I missed it.
Looks like the price of wry is due to go up if leavers get their way, Jim.

There's a time to be serious about Brexit and there's a time not to be. I felt this fell into the latter category :)
Been smoking marijuana, I expect, danny. (harrumph)
£270 fine and 5 months ban not a bad result for being Brahms, in Sweden during the 1970's if you were caught having drunk more than 500cl of beer you went to clink.
^It is an extremely light sentence.
4x the limit and a 5 month ban is a disgraceful sentence. Q. Why do we get the EU scroungers and criminals flocking here.?
A. Because our criminal justice system is the laughing stock of the world and our benefit system is a joke except for the hard working taxpayers who fund it.
Go home to mummy and daddy and scrounge off them. She probably couldn't afford all that booze in Sweden.!!
Is the punishment lighter for drunk driving north of the border ?
I had to check this wasn't in Jokes.
//£270 fine and 5 months ban not a bad result for being Brahms, //

I don't know what Scotland is doing with its drink driving law. I know they have reduced the limit (to about 60% of the English limits) but I didn't know they'd faffed about with the sentencing.

In England there is a minimum mandatory ban of twelve months. As well as that, with a reading at that level (three times the limit in England) she would be facing a ban of at least 23 months and a community order rather than a derisory fine.

As for her "mitigation" it's the biggest load of cobblers I've heard for a while.

Welcome to the wonderful world of "devolution".
I've just read that in Scotland there is also a minimum mandatory twelve month ban for excess alcohol. So somebody (either the court or a journalist) has made a balls-up somewhere.
