Baby Sussex is 7th in line for throne, but in relation to the head of state, is three generations down. When Charles takes the head of state position, baby Sussex will be only 2 gens from the HOS.
Spath, at the moment he is 7th in line to the throne.
AOG i think he has Meghans nose, cheeks and eye shape. The area around the eyes is very telling in a baby in my experience.
Spath the head of state is the person who occupies the throne.

Really?

I know.

Currently it is Queen Elizabeth II. In relation to Elizabeth II, Baby sussex is 3 gens down. It goes, charles, harry then baby sussex.

When charles takes the throne, and becomes HOS, Baby susex will be two generations from the HOS, Harry, Baby sussex.

This has nothing to do with baby Sussex's position to the throne, which is 7th.

If Charles was currently head of state, baby sussex would have been born with the HRH title.

Because he is 3 gens down, this has to be given to him. It is not a birth right as far as i'm aware.. but i may be wrong.
Sometimes you're just glad you get to a thread early and give a simple reply.
"Really?"

Yes i think so.
Spath, what have you done with William?
William is the same generation as harry.
I surrender.
One would hope Meghan does not miss her , nose , cheeks and eye shape. :*) he looks like every new born baby, gorgeous .
Danny, I think you're struggling to understand what i'm saying.

"King George V introduced a rule in 1917 which means their baby will need special permission from the Queen to become a HRH. (The permission that she granted to Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.) In December 2012, before Prince William and Kate Middleton had their first born, the Queen used the Letters Patent - a method that allows the sovereign to give orders without involving Parliament - so she could give their kids the prestigious title. It’s unknown whether the Queen is going to do this for Harry and Meghan, though.

George V declared that ‘the grandchildren of the sons of any such Sovereign in the direct male line (save only the eldest living son of the eldest son of the Prince of Wales) shall have and enjoy in all occasions the style and title enjoyed by the children of Dukes of these Our Realms.’ This means the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's first baby is too far down the line of succession to be a Royal Highness. "
Harry made a Freudian slip by saying the baby was two weeks old! Great for the conspiracy theorists!
Spath, if you knew that the new baby would have a title if Charles was the ruling monarch, what was the point of your 'word is he (the new baby) won't have a title'? Most of us knew and understood all this many posts ago!
However, since they had a son, a son can use one of his father's lesser grade peerage titles by courtesy.
Too true carolgif. The whole thing looked very stage managed and controlled by Meghan, and Harry looked uncomfortable. That man is so henpecked!
Neveracrossword i was only responding to discussion. I'll leave it for other discussion now.
Spath, I'm glad you're now better informed.
Spath - 'responding to discussion'? Yours was the third post!
