No one can quickly drag a backward country into an enlightened 21st century nation. The people have to realise for themselves the need to leave barbaric practices in the past.

The will to have this is still there, whether it's enacted now or 5 years ago.
If the article is dated 2014 it just means that they've had 5 years to implement the 'traditions'.
I absolutely agree it is a sad and retrograde step by the Sultan whenever it came into force, I recall deep unrest when it was first put forward.

I was simply curious if there was any update and the wrong link had been attached.
