anybody know the name of the band hyped into the 1982 christmas top ten(ie didn`t sell enough records to get there but were there nonetheless due to alleged record company favours)?

I suspect you're thinking of The Pinkees with "Danger Games" (though it was actually a little earlier; it had dropped out of the chart by christmas). Despite strong suspicions that it was hyped, I don't think the hyping was ever actually proven, was it?

not that i know of but i think i once saw sales figures that could have proved it.How the memory is going!!
