Whilst most of the US is in the grip of a Polar Vortex, Australia is experiencing record high temperatures.

If climate change / global warming is occurring why have temps in the US plummeted to record lows? I'm in no way suggesting that climate change isn't happening but it would be interesting to know what others think.

Reminds me of a recent Trump tweet about the freezing conditions in US now. Something like "We could do with some of that supposed global warming here right now."
Oh, had he said that? I didn't notice...

"Waming" :/
My barometer just keeps dropping
A link to a description of the research i was talking about in my answer.

Thanks archibaldy for the link and clarification.
More tax on the way I suppose.

Wont stop Mother Nature though.

We need to accept the weather changes naturally and learn to live and adapt to it.

sort of like we have to live with and adapt to Trump?
or for that matter - - Brexit ?

o mi Gawd as Nigh might say - or too long! too wordy as Jin might say
Err, yes I think so PP.
Climate change is that, the change of the climate in extreme ways

Record lows whilst somewhere gets record highs...
// We need to accept the weather changes naturally and learn to live and adapt to it. //

Except that the entire point of Anthropogenic Climate Change is that the latest weather extremes and global average temperature increases are partly driven by our own activity. Therefore we either can stop it, or at least -- more realistically -- try to mitigate it, by changing our practices.
//partly driven by our own activity.//

'Partly' being the operative word. Whatever we do, we won't defeat nature.
No, we cannot. But if we are contributing to the present period then it stands to reason that we should do our utmost to stop our own contributions, be that through reducing reliance on fossil fuels or general burning, or chopping down fewer trees, or whatever else you can think of.

That I agree with.
I'll make a note in my calendar. Look forward to next year's first anniversary of "Jim and Naomi agreed on something" day :)
Weather ;) people think climate change is natural or not it doesn’t stop it happening, and it doesn’t help the thought process that we should try to reduce our emissions.

Either way. It’s a threat to our existence that we’re not helping, and in fact most, are choosing to ignore.
"Except that the entire point of Anthropogenic Climate Change is that the latest weather extremes and global average temperature increases are partly driven by our own activity."

Well that's the bit that is up for debate.

Personally I dont buy into the whole its our fault thing, maybe if it wasnt used as an excuse to tax the hell out of us I might have more sympathy even though it can't be proven beyond doubt.

If we really wanted to stop fossil fuels we could, but Governments dont want us to as the tax revenues will dry up. Personally I wish we would stop using them as its the pollution that I object to - and that can be proved.
One of the largest consumers of fossil fuels also has one of the lowest tax rates on their personal usage*, so I'm not sure that can be entirely right. Still, if you disagree with the reason for reducing fossil fuel usage but not the objective, then that can and should still be enough to agree to do something about it, which is the main thing.

*The US taxes petrol at the rate of about 30p a gallon currently; in the UK it's seven times that.

Climate change is natural and there's nothing anyone can do about it.
