It's not illegal to ask someone to uncover their face. No-one is talking about asking people to take their clothes off. I trust that clears up your ignorance.

well the burqa is a full body gown, so asking someone to take it off would be exactly that.
"worn by many Iranian women when outside the house, is a full-body cloak."

Yes just whip off all ur clothes, stand naked cus we need to see ur face...
No-one has asked anyone to remove their burkha, either, Spath, you're talking nonsense.

"I trust that clears up your ignorance. "

Says the person who can't quote properly, so i assume your thoughts on other things are just askew, you take what you personally want from things.
This is getting rather too silly. I am pretty sure these garments have a way of revealing the face .
People are implying she should have took it off, to show her face, or that she should have been ask'd to like the motorcycle helmet man should have.

I'm highlighting why they shouldn't.
If they don't show their faces, they can't come into the bank. What's difficult to understand about that.

They'd have been better doing a burkha and a balaclava, as a motorcycle helmet isn't associated with terrorism.
well evidently they can. It's just people like you who have a problem with it.
How do you know Muslim women wear nothing under their full body garb, Spath?
cheers for that stock photo danny. However, not all burqas are like that. Most, when worn outside, are full body gowns with a built in head scarf.
"People are implying she should have took it off, to show her face, or that she should have been ask'd to like the motorcycle helmet man should have."

No, Spath, they're not. No-one is implying that at all. You are the only one implying that. Thankyou.
This is an interesting and timely "experiment". The explanation for the ban on motorcycle helmets in these situations is (rightly) that they conceal identity. In my opinion there is no question that double standards are involved if you conversely allow other forms of concealment of identity. Wearing the burqa or similar garment is a choice and the consequences must be accepted - you won't (shouldn't) get into a bank, etc. wearing it, decide whether you still want to wear it. The burqa/similar is not required in Islam although it is almost exclusively Muslim women who wear them. The face covering is originally a transfer from local pre-Islam customs into present day Muslim areas, a custom which has non-religious advantages for those who promote that dress code.
Right........

"She asked why she had to remove her helmet while her party colleague, running as an upper house candidate for Southern Metro, could keep his burqa on."

Maybe read the article in the OP
Spath // It's just people like you who have a problem with it.//
I find that remark offensive, but that is typical of you when you are losing an argument. I have no objection to the burqa.
"I find that remark offensive"

Don't be offended by strangers you have no idea who they are Danny especially over a topic so tedious in modern times.

Also, the remark is true, the bank had no issue with it untill the woman in the helmet said "why she had to remove her helmet while her party colleague, running as an upper house candidate for Southern Metro, could keep his burqa on."

So obviously the bank had no issue.. But, we do??
Does anybody know (or care) about real women living in Sithole countries - and especially those living under Islamic law? Not I suspect the average AB posturing moralist.

Spath // So obviously the bank had no issue.. But, we do??//
I do not have an issue.
then don't take my comment regarding those who do so personally. I've made my points, so i'll be off to let the discussion goes elsewhere.
