// Speaking to the BBC this week, her lawyer said she would need to move to a Western country for her own safety. Several countries have offered her asylum.//

…but ….

Pakistan's authorities have struck a deal with a hard-line Islamist party to end the protest over her acquittal ….

As part of the deal, Asia Bibi will be barred from leaving the country, though it is unclear for how long.

The protesters will also be able to file an appeal to the Supreme Court over its decision to release her.

She was convicted in 2010 of insulting the Prophet Muhammad, but was acquitted earlier this week.

Pakistani Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry defended the agreement against allegations the government was capitulating to extremists://

Capitulation to extremists? Clearly. What now for Asia Bibi?

Naomi's last para @ 08.59 - my thoughts exactly.

Does anyone know how old she is, I can't see it anywhere? She looks fairly young but has 5 children which I assume she had before she went to prison in 2010 (I hope so anyway!). They'll have to get the whole family out or those left behind won't be around for long if the fundamentalists get their way.
I think she has quite a distinctive face and I would recognise her if I saw her. Last night I could see her when I closed my eyes to go to sleep. One good thing is to see so many countries offering her sanctuary. Everything crossed in the hope she can get safely to one of them.

/// Muslims make up over 20% of the population of Israel, Khandro. Her safety can't be guaranteed anywhere. ///

Since for some reason the 'apologists' seem to have distanced themselves from this thread, may I speak on their behalf?

"She would be safe in the UK our Muslims are a different species, all nice and peace loving you understand"
Left-leaning commieBuddhist reporting for duty.

I’d say this to the naomis, talbots, and the rest. You know how the entire nation is bored RIGID with Brexit? Well, the same thing is happening with your constant, puerile chittering over Islam (and particularly Pakistan).

We really don’t believe your apocalyptic ranting over the doom that is coming!

Take up knitting, or golf, or supporting Chelsea, anything in fact, but DO be quiet.
the family should leave hidden in burkhas, maybe to Oz, where hungry crocs can be fed following extremists ;)
Question Author
bainbrig, what's your opinion of what's happened to this lady?
tambo
i rather like that idea. But they have many Muslims in Oz too, not sure she is safe anywhere to be honest.
Surely you don't believe that the we should all keep quiet about what is happening to this lady bb?
sshhhhh....Oz law is less rigid as Ozzies stem from criminals.

This thread isn't about any forthcoming apocalyptic doom.
It's about the here and now...you haven't got any defense for these islamist savages have you.
That is the real reason you have stayed away and as usual when you do crawl out from under your rock all you can do is be rude.

''but DO be quiet.''

Says it all really...let the woman be hanged by savages and shut up...mmmmmmmmmmm.

Question Author
Ladybirder, bainbrig clearly thinks that our concern for a Christian woman who committed the unforgivable act of sharing drinking water with Muslims has been on death row for 8 years on a trumped-up charge of blasphemy is misplaced. Puerile he calls it. Furthermore, having eventually been acquitted she now finds herself, at the insistence of madmen, supported by an equally mad prime minister, confined to her own country and likely to face prison – or worse – again. Good to know that our “Left-leaning commieBuddhist” embraces such a rational and humane sense of justice. It appears that he wholeheartedly supports whatever Pakistanis do – so long as they’re not Christian.
well said ^^
He's clearly a fan of Naz Shah, naomi.
canada or america both very big countries and easy to blend into
she would have to wear western style clothing and possible change her name as well.
if they let her go that is, and that is debatable.
Question Author
No doubt, Talbot.

Fender, she's got to get out first.
Yes. it's the actual getting her and family out that is going to be the hardest, hope and pray that there's way.
Question Author
Actually, there’s a truly pathetic irony in bandbrig’s post. Him a proud self-confessed commie – and yet he supports people who won’t share something as simple as drinking water with a fellow worker. Got to laugh really.
