// Speaking to the BBC this week, her lawyer said she would need to move to a Western country for her own safety. Several countries have offered her asylum.//

…but ….

Pakistan's authorities have struck a deal with a hard-line Islamist party to end the protest over her acquittal ….

As part of the deal, Asia Bibi will be barred from leaving the country, though it is unclear for how long.

The protesters will also be able to file an appeal to the Supreme Court over its decision to release her.

She was convicted in 2010 of insulting the Prophet Muhammad, but was acquitted earlier this week.

Pakistani Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry defended the agreement against allegations the government was capitulating to extremists://

Capitulation to extremists? Clearly. What now for Asia Bibi?

There...I've said it.
I think you will only draw in the usual crowd of islamaphobes , Naomi.

Perhaps with the odd exception of that lovely left leaning commy Buddhist (or what ever he is)who thinks she has more to fear from us Islamaphobes than the frenzied lunatics who want to hang her.

You’re probably right, Talbot, – but hey ho. I think some people were relying upon Imran Khan to see justice done. I can’t say I’m surprised that it hasn’t been. Capitulation appears to be par for the course.
They want her kept in the country so they can mount an appeal.

Of course they do, nothing to do with blood lust and mass hysteria where wild-eyed zealots vie to outdo each other in the 'who can get worked up to the point of stroke over this garbage' stakes.

The rule of law will prevail. Har har.
I think it used to be called "under house arrest". You know, giving time and opportunity to manufacture further charges.
poor girl, being jailed is one thing, but i feel her life is forfeit now.
and it is capitulations to these barbarians, can't see that it's anything else.
given protective custody and then quietly shipped out later

even then if s/o asks "where is she so I can kill her?" the answer would be "still in hiding"
viddie of setting up road blocks
and patting down men to let them thro

doesnt really strike a chord with me that they disagree with a court decision over a woman.....
We must realise though it is only a small minority of extremists!!!!!!

Where are the United Nations when you need them?

Cut off all aid and diplomatic relations, to that 'Middle Age' country.
I’m afraid the diplomatic machine doesn’t work like that, as much as we think it maybe should. There’s a ‘bigger picture’ than one individual, I’m afraid.
but this one individual counts, as do countless others.
Not when it’s set against a background of lucrative trade, emmie.

Yet another side-stepping post, as usual, from Zacs master.
The OP question is in the last line. I say threaten to remove financial aid to Pakistan (as Trump has done for other reasons) until she is safely out of the reaches of these barbarians.
"We must realise though it is only a small minority of extremists!!!!!!"
Whereas, of course, you have evidence of vast swathes of British Muslims baying for her blood.

It is an unfortunate turn of events. Appreciate it's not easy to run a country where primative religious attitudes are commonplace, but this must make Asia fearful of her future. One hopes international pressure for a fair pricess and quick release is applied.
khandro totally agree,
You may not like it but that’s the way the world works. Distasteful as we may find it.
OG, I think AOG was being sarcastic.
//doesnt really strike a chord with me that they disagree with a court decision over a woman.....//

Says everything you need to know about the poster(and MamyLynne's best friend).
