Sacked and lose his pension, not imprisoned.
seeing the footage of the young man who is now severely disabled, and how the officers didn't help him i will never know, they should go to prison -
If they had caused the injuries, imprisonment would have been correct. As it is, the sacking is the correct punishment for them.
Yes. I'm very, very happy they've been fired. I think they should serve time in prison but a very short time.. 3-6 month.
I agree with JTH.They did not commit a criminal offence.
No longer.. they need longer in prison, they dragged a teenager with a broken neck, and lied about it saying he walked to their van. They police probably aggravated the boys conditions. Horrific.
Spath, for what offence could they have been imprisoned?
spath
that was the conclusion on the news, they were guilty of mistreatment firstly then lied about it afterwards. That poor boy is forever brain damaged.
gross misconduct. Dragging a boy with a broken neck then lieing about it, i assume his injuries were made worse by being dragged unconscious with a broken neck then driven a mile to a police station instead of a hospital.

They did not help his condition, they lead him to brain damage and a heart attack. His life is now completely over. He is in a vegetable state
Spath, none of that amounts to a criminal offence
they should have taken him to hospital, but they didn't.
and subsequently he suffered a heart attack.
his family must be devastated.
If it was my child i'd be pushing charges on the police. The situation could have been different if they did not drag him unconscious with a broken neck, or get into a scuffle with him. Horrific.

If my friend was unconscious with a broken neck and i decided to aggressively drag him to a van and take him to a police station, that would be a criminal offence. It's assault.
It's ABH.
Imprisonment for Gross Misconduct is *not* an option on the Statute Books, spath.

There is no argument that the officers behaved disgracefully (after the fact, especially) which is why they were sacked. They may well have exacerbated the injuries suffered by Mr Cole, but they didn't cause them.....which will be of absolutely no comfort to him or his family.
The Officers have been dismissed and that will resonate through the years when they apply for employment elsewhere. Perhaps that is also appropriate punishment....
Spath, it was not an assault, it was an arrest. From the article:-
//
None of the officers were accused of causing the devastating injuries//
need more info. What happened leading up to this? how did he get injured? etc
eh whatever I personally think they should have a sentence. If they weren't police they'd be going to jail. Is that fair?
he got injured in a scuffle with bouncers and police
Spath, no criminal offence- no prison.
spath - You are assuming that you would go to jail.......I doubt if that is true. Unless you are claiming that you would have also caused the injuries?
