Yes completely radio.
Seems a little bit 'precious' but I can't summon up the energy to be bothered by something so trivial.

Hopefully, the proposal will gain no traction although I can't see the DM writing a full page article on it if it does.
I think the question should be: "Why are so called adults attending an institute of higher education be dressing-up as anything other than...well...er, students?"
Why do "students unions" have the power to ban anything, what can they do if someone decides they don't care and just turns up dressed as Pocahontas to a party.
In the last few months we've had accusations of cultural misappropriation where there wasn't any, 'racist posters pulled down even though they weren't racist, Kipling denounced and jazz hands instead of clapping - to name just four.

I wouldn't call ìt PC, I prefer to use pathetic.
Better idea would be not to have fancy dress parties if it bothers them, sorted.
The poppies haven't been banned at Cambridge University.
Proposal A (Let's promote more poppies) was put forwards and countemanded by Proposal B (Let's water down the jingoistic, etc. etc.)

And in the event 'neither' proposal was adopted.
Proposing it is just as bad.

From little acorns mighty oaks grow. Maybe certain costumes banned now but what next all students to be dressed in Chairman Mae type uniforms.

Amongst these students of today are the leaders of tomorrow, we should be most concerned.
Well, to me, AOG, fancy-dress parties are meant for young children celebrating occasions such as birthdays.
Looks like the doughnuts are turning out like Johnny wished.
Fancy dress parties are very common in adults also. Moot point to focus on.

Fancy dress parties are very common in teens / young 20's students. Especially at this time of the year.
perhaps they should all wear mao suits to show unity against the bourgeois decadence of there expensive education in media studies and liberal arts..
Idiots !
Seems odd to me that people here are worried something like this. I sometimes wonder if some people here were never young, maybe foolish, but happy, idealistic and well meaning
rebels without a cause, but will soon conform when they require a pay cheque.
