I was privately educated and spent my childhood in a seven bedroom house.
Now I earn £140,000 a year (plus expenses), live in a house worth around £750,000 house and have a pension pot pension pot worth over £1M.

It could be very worrying.

To return to the main thrust of the question , if the figures quoted put Mr Corbyn into the category of 'the very richest in society' as mentioned in the article - then yes any measures outlined would apply to him.

I'm not sure what that phrase actually means, like most of us here I know people who earn vast sums have houses worth more than the above figure and have all the trappings that go with their accumulated wealth - second homes, yachts and a plane for example.

It will as you say depend greatly on where the lines are drawn.
Brilliant ymb, that made me chuckle and I LOVE the way you wound up a certain party on here (lol) !!
it may also depend where you are. here's an estate agent blurb for a house worth £700k. it's not a palace, it's a bog standard between the wars semi. people who live nearby aren't rich, they're ordinary joes. do they deserve to be fleeced by the labour party?

It was only intended to be a bit light hearted, albeit with am underlying valid question.
The only worrying one would teh £million pension pot. It's not a smuch as it sounds. The get the equivalent value of a state pension you'd need a pot of over a quarter of a million. A million pound pot might get you an annuity of £30000 a year in retirement which would make you comfotable but not rich. Pension pots worth well over a million are quite common place for those in good company schemes who also stuck away thousands in AVCs aevery year rather than blowing it.
As an aside, I thought you stopped earning £140K pa a while ago in a previous job, YMB
Ah- see what you did there YMB- I hadn't seen the other answers as i'd just logged in after work!

I must hand it to you ymb: very amusing, and there are a few fish in that net :-)
Indeed there is an underlying valid question and some of us tried to engage with it too.
I can’t see a question: do you mean Jeremy Corbyn is coming for himself? That would be good wouldn’t it?
It would have been more obvious if some of ymb's own past comments weren't so similar to the facts he presented in the OP.

I do wonder how those wealthy Labour supporters and donors feel when these 'eat the rich' policies are trotted out...
I'm grateful for the simple things in life.
Like my four kids.
Especially the one I like.

Great post, ymb. ;-)
LOl...I have just got it..............very good YMB.
Ichkeria at 1711. Yes, and some of those who with great gusto swam into it are now futilely thrashing around in order to get out of it:)
Mrs sqad is still laughing...........very clever she said........
I don't have quite enough to afford a top class gardener and housekeeper.
I have to rely on Romanian immigrants, but we struggle by.
