They're beautiful, Tilly. Where is that?
wow, they are wonderful
Question Author
They were at Middleport Pottery in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent.
How wonderful, Tilly.....I am glad they are touring. I saw them in London and as moving as they were I was also moved by the effect they had on those watching.....so many folk but all making room for each other to see....quietly talking or just standing together in silence......x
We saw them in the moat of the ToL if you cried at that display you can imagine what it felt like to see the Tower totally surrounded by almost a million poppies.
Question Author
Yes, I regret not seeing them in London but it was moving to see them coming home to their birthplace, so to speak.
If I knew that you were in Stoke again Tills, I would have taken you for an oatcake :-)
I noticed that too Gness, the day we were there the crowd was immense but there was no jostling or anything and everybody was surprisingly quiet just waiting till they could get to the front to take their photos, spend a few moments in contemplation and then move aside to let others take a turn.A very emotive feeling especially when you realised every poppy represented a fallen soldier.
Question Author
Sorry, I had no time to meet you, Nails. My four days were filled with activities planned by my relatives. Had I had a free space, I would have contacted you. Maybe next time.x
Question Author
Everyone who went to any of the poppy venues would have gone out of respect. That's why they were a quiet, contemplative occasions.
It was an old, blind soldier wearing his cap and medals, sitting on a chair beside me, that set me off.
Saw them in Liverpool, didn't know they were there but we were having breakfast and our table was opposite the window of St George's Hall where they had set them up. Didn't have time to see them close up as we had to get our train. But it was very early and very quiet.
A friend of mine went to see them when he met a friend of his from Northampton who was on a canal boating holiday that passed through stoke a few weeks ago. They both found them quite moving.
Question Author
I bet the view from the canal was good.
That was exactly my experience, Paddy....and it was beautiful....x
I saw them at Lincoln Castle. They were brilliant.
Went to Caernarfon Castle too. Note the dragon's claw at the foot of the display.
