webbo, You need to remember, using the phrase 'cultural appropriation' is the same as using the term 'gender neutral' - it's shorthand for the rather more lengthy, but far more accurate phrase - "I am an over-thinking egotistical idiot with more time than sense and I believe that my opinions are more important than anyone else's, even though it is a...

Spath, Jerk is not a method, it is a particular mix of spices.
If you add a packet of jerk seasoning to rice aren't you entitled to call that jerk rice ?

Anyway I reckon I could jerk rice all over the place, but mostly onto the floor, probably.
Jerk, as danny says, is a mixture of spices. Indians use various mixtures of spices in their cooking, as do the Chinese, etc., but I’ve never heard any of them making a fuss because other people cook dishes they’ve invented. If there’s a jerk involved here it’s Dawn Butler.

No it's a marinade and partocular mixture of spices, including allspice, which isn't in the jerk rice.....

Jerk is a style of cooking native to Jamaica, in which meat is dry-rubbed or wet marinated with a hot spice mixture called Jamaican jerk spice.

So it's semi-jerk rice ?
Spath I told you it wasn't a style when you were pinching of wiki pages ago.
I now understand (from Jim) that cultural appropriation only exists if you have invaded a country and treated its indigents poorly. So the Caribbean can pinch rice or anything else they want. The UK (and US and many other European countries) however cannot pinch things because our ancestors were aggressors.
No Geezer.....It's Knee Jerk Rice.
:-D
