Whilst I'm not necessarily expecting people to agree with this woman, it would be nice if Andy-Hughes and company could at least bother to think more critically about that which they are dismissing so out-of-hand.
I've explained Cultural Appropriation, in its real sense, before -- it's disappointing to see that A-H hasn't taken any note of it; nor of kvalidir's answer, which also properly captures the point Ms Butler is trying to make.

People like her rant about equality but how do they ever expect to feel that they’ve achieved that when the moment someone from outside their ethnic group touches an aspect of that ethnicity, they grasp frantically at their roots and scream ‘foul’?

No, that's not what I'm saying at all.
It's not the fact of the disagreement, it's the nature of it. You're not making a valid comparison by referring to "roast beef and Yorkshire pudding" -- and if you can't see that, then yes, you don't have the ability to judge. That doesn't equate to saying that you are wrong because you disagree with me. At all.

We all know what it means but that doesn't make it sensible. Fine, people want to preserve their traditions and their culture - I understand that - but how ridiculous it is to create racial disharmony where none previously existed. If anything she should be proud that someone from a different ethnic background admires aspects of her culture so much that he wants to emulate it.
