FF, //Is that a point for the sake of it Naomi?//

What do you mean? It's my opinion on your 'fleeing/escaping' comment. Only people in some sort of danger flee or escape. These people are not in that situation.
They might be trying to escape from Islamic extremists in Nigeria or from the murderous violence in the Horn of Africa.
Yes ... but since this lot were in Morocco and those arriving on the mainland by boat have reached their destination from North Africa, they might not.
Perhaps the Spanish authorities are now regretting taking in those who Italy refused to take in.

The frightening thing is that soon the people of these invaded lands will arise and take the law into their own hands bu doing something about it, because it is certain that their politicians don't seem all that bothered.
You have picked one meaning of escape, Naomi.
You have a knack for creating differences where there are none as to the main issue.
FF, And you have a knack of choosing your words very carefully. Sadly for you, that very soon becomes transparent.
It’s not they have nowhere else to go.

Governments don't have to select anything. Fail to manage a country well and citizens will opt to impose themselves elsewhere rather than go to the bother of helping sort out their home country.

Genuine refugees have little to do with the issue. Not every African country will be persecuting them. They need to stay at a peaceful neighbouring country until it's safe to return, not use misfortune as an excuse to be an illegal economic migrant to a country that clearly isn't inviting them.
They ARE being offloaded. Allowing it to occur and continuing in the same vein is permitting and tactit approval of the offloading.
What exactly are the African countries meant to do? It's not exactly a crime to leave your country of origin, is it?

Closing the borders ain't the answer either -- at least, not in isolation. If people want to leave then there's a limit to what can be done to stop them, so the key is to try and discourage them from leaving in the first place, ie to encourage them to stay, to give them good reasons to do so.
Meanwhile...
//Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Matteo Salvini has rejected an EU offer to pay out €6,000 for every new migrant they take.
As leader of the nationalist League (Lega) party which makes up one half of Italy’s new populist coalition government, Salvini has seen his popularity surge with the adoption of tough new policies to protect the Mediterranean country’s maritime borders and block the NGOs which have been ferrying thousands of illegal migrants to Europe from smuggler boats off the coast of Libya.//

no its not, but to try and forcibly enter a country a illegally IS.
//so the key is to try and discourage them from leaving in the first place, ie to encourage them to stay, to give them good reasons to do so. //

Might be worth having a word with Frau Murkhell then Jim. Didn't she issue an invitation to all comers?
If it's clear your citizens are trying to illegally force their way into a country that hasn't given permission, then it ought to be a crime. It's a poor neighbour country that does nothing. One needs a passport to leave, and either a nation to nation agreement to enter, or the necessary visas/whatever. These could be checked for at outgoing ports and where people smuggling is obviously occurring.
Jim, //Closing the borders ain't the answer either //

It's an idea that would work.... so it would be an answer.

//the key is to try and discourage them from leaving in the first place, ie to encourage them to stay, to give them good reasons to do so. //

What sort of timeframe are you looking at here? Months? More likely years .... and in the meantime..... what?

they should just be rounded up and sent back, they have broken the law and what do we know of any of their back grounds, could be murderers rapists jihadis and uneducated of little use to european countries and just a burden on local people mostly low paid and just get by, with x amount of already unemployed, housing medical etc
but that does not matter to the snowflakes..let them eat cake.

What like building them houses free of charge, Finding them work to do (ups that won't go down very well), providing them with schools and staff to run them, introducing a free health service, mobile telephones and TV. etc etc.

Or we can just give them our front door keys and tell them to pop in any time.
As regards your last para. aog, at least the do-gooders on here who constantly defend these type of people could do that maybe ??
Anyway, back to criminals throwing dangerous chemicals about the place while trying to break and enter.

Another meaningless contribution(dig? compliment(unlikely)?) from Naomi. Or was there a typo in your contribution Naomi?
