/// With the far-right Sweden Democrats, who are opposed to immigration and asylum, currently doing well in the polls, the government has felt it has be tough on those issues before September's elections. ///

Maybe she`d like to fund his demands, give him a place to live and possibly apologise to the victims of any crimes he commits.
Daft lassie.
Courageous act, but ultimately pointless. She can only delay, not change the decision; barring an overthrow of the Swedish government.
So why wasn't she removed from the aircraft and arrested? Aircraft can then take off. Simples I would have thought.
Politicians will change their spots (usually temporarily) during elections, to get the vote of target voters.

With the emergence of one policy populist parties such as UKIP or Sweden Democrats, the threat is nulified by the Governing party getting tough on immigration.

They will promise to cut immigration from hundreds of thousands, to tens of thousands. Once they have your vote, they will ignore their own pledge (and let immigration double). Unfortunately, such blatant taking the public for granted works.
//The Afghan man is eventually let off the plane but Swedish authorities have said he will be deported and she could face up to six months in prison //

I hope he is - and I hope she does. She should have been offloaded pronto!
I admire her for sticking to her beliefs pretty much like the suffragettes of the past.
Why was he taken off and not her?

Surely they did it the wrong way round?

\\This thread does not highlight the full story. The man was certainly going to die and the Swedish girl prevented this with a protest to stop him being deported. //

Why was he certainly going to die, I can see anything in the link.
She said the man //'will most likely get killed' if he's deported.//

Why? He’s a failed asylum seeker, not a criminal … unless she knows something we don’t.
//What does this situation have to do with any government or official?//

Eh?
these are the possible punishments for disruptive passengers under CAA rules.

Her beliefs are her problem, I would be annoyed in my journey was delayed because of someone else's beliefs.
She should have been EVICTED from the flight.
Sorry...replace evicted with ejected.
'Does It Take Opposition From The Far-Right To Make Tolerant Governments [ ] Take Tougher Actions?

Yes, probably. That's usually how a Govt works. Tread a careful line to avoid alienating voters / potential voters until it's seen that the opinion of the public is starting to follow more radical lines. Do some research and have some focus groups. If the computer says 'yes', adopt said policy.

That's exactly what happened with UKIP exerting influence on the Cons to have a referendum.
