When young savages are attacking emergency services doing their jobs there has to be a serious break down going on. When I was that age it would have been unthinkable.

I cannot comment on Society as a whole but this incident is dreadful, a cruel and nasty hoax culminating in a vicious attack - glad they have them.

Where I live the fire engines have a police escort when attending fires due to several engines being damaged by brick-throwing hooligans.

Hoax Emergency calls have gone on for decades, what some are obviously forgetting is how good the technology is now to trace the location of the call - when they turned up the thing to do would to have owned up to the cruel hoax and not to have gone on the offensive - that was never going to solve anything.

I don't know what punishment will be meted out, but I certainly hope it scares them from repeating an act like this.

I would have thought that youth would feel more suppressed in the 40's 50's...National service, Borstal, Corporal punishment.....but we didn't see such behavior then.

it is the relaxation of suppression that causes these antics and in my opinion we need MORE suppresion.

from the 1980's on we have been told that the abolition of corporal punishment and the relaxation of authority would lead to a less violent society.40 years on, i see no evidence of this.
