Finally we have a conviction for forced marriage, but before we celebrate at finally some common sense will the Judiciary use this case to set an example?

IMHO this girl was raped at 13 years old by the man she was betrothed to so surely this should add a few more years as the mother was complicit in this disgusting act?

savages!
The important point is that someone has finally been convicted of this in a UK court. Previously courts have refused to proceed with prosecution, putting it down to the 'Traditions' of the Muslim wedding system. The actual sentence is somewhat beside the point, the main thing is that this has finally been recognised as a crime.
(long overdue!) Rather than just being ignored .
A successful prosecution in this area is to be welcomed. Hopefully, it will prove that not only is it possible to secure prosecutions but that there is a willingness to do so.
Good I hope it's a significant sentence to go with the legal precedent.
Some women just do not deserve to be a Mother !

You are right Eddie, it is good to see finally our Courts showing they will not accept "tradition" as an excuse to flout our laws especially for crimes like this.
The only 'traditions' allowed in court are those of the UK legal system, we cannot have a situation where every separate group invents its own rules. What are the Jedi traditions that they would like to follow?
More Muslim outrages.
i agree with Theland, more outrages in a so called religion of peace.
I'm not sure I follow this. Was the girl 13 or 18 at the time of the marriage?
Hideous crime anyway.
She was raped at 13, with her mother's agreement, and forced to marry the same man at 18.
One more example that it is not racist to attack these strange and horrible traditions but it is their culture that the more right wing amongst us attack.

Perhaps we will now see some convictions for Female
mutilation?
There is a vast difference between a forced marriage(which this was) and an arranged marriage in which the couple are usually happy to go through with.
