It has been ten years and as far as I'm aware not a single bit of hard evidence has come to light.

Other investigations such as the bloke not in the landfill!! has been ended. Surely enough time has been spent on this one child and the McCann family should get on with their lives without this very big reminder.

They will never forget her but this constant attention just amplifies emotions that would have faded to 'normal' grief and loss.

/// Corrie Mckeague may have parents, but he is hardly a child...... ///

He may have not been a child but he was still a human being, who had everything to live for.
And it makes no difference if the circumstances of their disappearances differ greatly.

They are still 'missing persons', and as such should receive equal attention from the police.

Yes the McCanns may have lost a child, but so have the parents of Corrie McKeague (maybe a good deal older but still their child).

His girlfriend has also lost her partner, along with the father of her child.

aog/Spath, How anyone can seriously compare the disappearance of a drunken 23 year old man to the abduction of a 3 year old is utterly beyond me. What is wrong with you people?
As advised, comparisons, especially unconnected ones, do bring out the bad tempers in AB'ers.

Most people's views are the same - as dispassionate observers, they think it is time to stop, if it was their child they would want it to carry on.

Really nothing of a proper debate to be had here.

Spath, 'lack of empathy' is not the phrase I'd use for such a comparison.

I don't know if it's comparable, but Greater Manchester didn't call off the search for Keith Bennett for 45 years- and I would have to applaud them for their efforts. Many will remember he was the 12 year old child murdered by Ian Brady in 1964 and whose body, although very likely to be up there still on the Moors, has never been found. One can only begin to imagine the horror for these families. But, it's a big question, where do you stop? Sometimes, just one more day could yield the results they are looking for; other times you are just wasting resources- it's an almost impossible question to answer.
Spath, The issue I have is with the totally inappropriate comparison you're making.

Spungle, another child, a victim of monsters, and quite right that the search for his remains continued.

Spath, I'm not in your face. If you don't like being challenged think before you post. Something in my head about knowing the price of everything and the value of nothing .....

Soath, in your opinion the case of a 3 year old being abducted compares to that of a 23 year old man going missing. Hmmmm.... that I challenge,
Regardless of any comaprisons this case had had enough spent on it.

As pointed out above the incompetence of the Portuguese press pretty much damned the incident from the start. Couple this with major coverage that if the child is still alive would become far too hot and so survival is unlikely.

I quite understand that if it was my child, or even grandchild I would want everything done but somehow I suspect for me that would not happen, indeed I suspect I would have been facing charges of negligence and had the SS round trying to remove my other kids.

//The threads about the McCanns, not you trying to challenge my opinion. //

Spath, I'm talking about the McCanns and I'm challenging your opinion - just as you're challenging other people's opinions.
