Do you think that genius Trump understands or even knows that Europe is the same size as America while he plays his ridiculous trade war-game?

hopefully he's demonstrating to the EUSSR that tarriffs are a 2 way street. Where as generally I don't like protectionism I can see that it is a useful political weapon.
I think his original "target" was China, concerning the steel and aluminium being dumped onto world markets. Of course the self important EU cabal couldn't resist piping up. So he has had a pop at Mercedes and BMW in return. That'll wake em up.
"So he has had a pop at Mercedes and BMW in return. That'll wake em up" - which is exactly what we will be doing if they don't start seeing sense.
Too true TTT. We should have done just that, forcefully, from day 1.
The EU pyramid scheme is in no condition to cope with a tariff war. Millions of cosseted and part time workers(as long as they do as they are told) have had it easy for decades. The whole edifice will crash soon enough. Let em trade amongst themselves, whilst we get on with trading with the whole World.
yep 25% import tax on all german jam jars + EU wine and cheese etc would have focused their minds from the outset.
That is why they are howling at Trump. The Americans don't have to suffer the C.A.P stitch up either, but they are not going to put up with the other nonsense anymore. The Americans have decided that they wont pay the bribes for UN support any longer.
And Trump is certainly playing to his grass roots voters.
And I thought he would be gone in six months !
A lot of these are just words and bluster. I would like to see how the EU negotiates with other countries. Who would actually be hit harder with a trade war between the US and EU I wonder?

Do they or did the EU demand compliance from Canada and not budge as they have done with us?
Could a levy be set on the awful tv programmes and fads that come from America ?

It seems that a lot of readers have bought into the fantasy land of "little England" trading with the world as soon as having left the EU.
Good luck with that. The sun set on the British Empire some time ago.
feel free to move to your beloved EUSSR mate.
Rich( oxymoron?) is fond of the phrase Little Englanders. Haha. Twist and shout in action.
Any Questions. Dimbledum talking about the tariff on Aluminium or.....'Aluminum as Trump no doubt calls it'.
How the brain dead, anti-Trump audience howled with laughter.

Has anyone else noticed, and I admit I had very little education myself, just how uneducated and stupendously thick most left wingers appear to be.
It's no longer possible to parody them nowadays.
spicerack, you only have to look at what agent COB and the Quartermaster are doing to Labour.
Rich. can you tell me how the other countries of the world trade with each other? Because at last look they weren't all in the EU.

Some countries are big, some are medium size and some are small and they all trade in some way.

Having an Empire or not has nothing to do with believing your country can do better than be a slave to the EU. The British Empire, Roman Empire, Ottoman Empire and probably one or two I can't quite recall at the moment. All gone.

It does also seem rather at odds that on the one hand you insult people and call them Little Englander but on the other talk of them trying to emulate the Empire.

I would suggest you and a lot of Remainers are the lIttle Englanders. Its you who think England (UK) is too small to trade independently. It is you that want to be shackled to the EU because you are frightened of the big world.

From now on I might call Remainers Little Englanders because that is what you appear to be.
well said cassa, bang on.
Just a point......it’s called Brexit, not Englexit.
Zacs. rich is fond of the jibe. You know ...being a self identifier of all things anti English whilst wrapping it up in, if not posted by himself, serious points to consider. Meehh.
Although I respect a democratic vote. It really should not be called Brexit since Scotland and Northern Ireland voted to remain in the E.U. Perhaps it could be called EngWelshexit.
