I’ve always considered those overly obsessed with football to be bonkers, but this takes the biscuit! More useful idiots!

It's definitely Dodgy.

jackthehat, I don’t have an “offence-o’meter”.

highbury57, //I wonder what the attitude of some of the respondents towards Islam is. Worrying undertones in some of the responses.//

Wonder no more - about me at least. I dislike Islam and I find complacency towards it worrying.
When the home supporters at the Kop end start rolling out their prayer-mats at half-time......*then* I'll acknowledge there may be a problem.
highbury, my opinion is that Islam is a very misogynistic religion.

What can you tell me that will change my mind?
talbot
nothing at all it would seem.
Just give aog best answer and have done with it :-)
Or is the trauma of a few football fans singing ‘I want to be a Moslem’ too much to bear :-)
This could get out of hand you know. If he reaches 40 goals for the season will we see Liverpool declared an Islamic republic ...
i'm not sure i understand the problem, they have made up daft lyrics set to a dodgy song supporting a footballer - they do this all the time.
Officers, what offence have these men done?

Much Ado About Nothing

Out of context, but so much is these days.
// The ninety minute Muslim, just add lager.//
oh Great ! er can I re-use that ?

the 'pule radicalised - erm I dont think so ...

whagt would a radicalised scouser look like ?
scousers as useful idiots ! oh Lordy lordy !
( it is the useful bit I worry about)

PeterPedant. //it is the useful bit I worry about//

The 'useful' takes a little thought. Do try.
Its just a chant but the problem is those with an agenda, like the BBC, will take it out of context and push it as 'Liverpool fan love Islam'. I suspect that is far fro the truth and the chant is simply, as said above, because a Muslim player is doing them proud. And good on him.

highbury57, //I wonder what the attitude of some of the respondents towards Islam is. Worrying undertones in some of the responses.//

No undertones fro me, like. Naomi I dislike the religion intensely and lets be fair as I am the 'infidel' it hates me too. The difference is I dont want to kill them all whereas their religion (in its extremes) does promote murder of the infidel.

The religion also treats women and homosexuals terribly, how can anyone support a religion linked to throwing homosexuals off tall building?

If the religion moves into the 21st century then I may reconsider.
Dreadful lyrics anyway, hardly on a par with ‘His name is Rio and he watches from the stand’ or perhaps the best of all, ‘When you're sat in row Z, and the ball hits your head, that's Zamora, that's Zamora’.
walking home once, footie game just finished and all the fans were chanting...your going home in an ambulance, as they were walking..
very intimidating.
If we tale footy chants too literally then back in the sixties there'd have been a plague of 'Bow legged chickens and Knock kneed hens' round Burnden park.
^ If we take...
A common one in the 70's/8o's was "Youre gonna get youre F***** head kicked in".

At least your lot were offering an ambulance.

The best one I ever had was coming out of Stamaford Bridge with the United crowd heading for the tube(We got no choice rozzers just dumped everyone from the United end down a tube). We were escorted by plod on horses - loads of them when some wag inn our section started singing Robin Hood .. ridig through the glen. He knew the verses and a few hundred joined in the chorus. Even plod thought it funny.
very tribalistic, never heard such chants from cricket fans, unless im mistaken.

As will fans of Islam – and that might give the confused a little hint as to whom these idiots are useful to.
‘He’s only a poor little paddy’
‘His face is all tattered and torn’
From the Ingerlund choir at Wembley 1980 after the Home International v N Ireland. And a chap we’d been watching it with tried to rip my scarf off.
Generally it’s nicer these days...
Just another reason to laugh at Liverpool I think
