I seem to be agreeing with people I normally wouldn't, today. TTT and AOG. :)

I've never heard of any Freemasons being discriminated against.
Question Author
how would anyone even know to discriminate against them I mean they don't wear a uniform day to day do they? Ok I know it's not a secret society but day to day you can't point them out in the street can you? I think they are being sensitive about some p1 taking rather than actual discrimination.
I wish I could get interested in this, but....know what ? ......I couldn't give a tinkers cuss !
As a Freemason and don't care who knows it, I can say with confidence that accusations of interference with the workings of government are a lot of old pony, to borrow a phrase from TTT. Basically it just Boy Scouts for grown-ups. People outside the Craft may be suspicious but once inside you will find nothing sinister or corrupt. Were it not so I would resign on the spot.

so you're a Larry then JD, I know a few from my club, never got into it myself.
"I mean they don't wear a uniform day to day do they?"

Absolutely not. Well, not once they've moved on to CID.
I had to think there, TTT.

Larry (Grayson) - mason?
My brother in law is quite high up and belongs to two or three lodges (in fact I think him and his cronies opened a new one) and as Jackdaw says, it's big boy scouts and surprisingly religious.

My dad was even invited to join years ago and he was just a PO. Not even a governor.

Not discrimination just a hang over from the fact it was only frequented so to speak by toffs, senior politicians and senior police and big business people.

But like the round table used to be the poor mans masons.
I know a few Buffs but have never been posh enough to know a Freemason.

Actually, not heard from any of the Buffs for years. Have the numbers fell away inline with WMC's?
TTT....I have a feeling that I am going to regret asking this, but, like Mastermind, I have started, so I had better finish....what the ruddy hell is a "Larry"
Larry Grayson - Mason
It was the Buffaloes who were the poor man's masons. Rotary and Round Table are different. No fancy regalia, silly signs etc.
Cassa.....groan !
Don't forget the Odd Fellows too.
The Oddfellows are more or less defunct these days, as is the Buffs.
Question Author
yes JD
Don't forget the catholic groups, The Knights of Saint Columba and the Catenians. The former has within its oath a promise to bash any protestant baby against the wall till its brains spill out. Nice.
True it survives mainly as a Friendly Society these days with 129 Branches nationwide.
Question Author
then there's the loyal order of moose!
"Nepotism (and) corruption is not tolerated." They have to be joking. My workplace is full of them (ex civil service) and I'm sorry but the amount they look after each other and give each other leg-ups is outrageous.
