Mr Macron will demand the UK do more to help ease the migrant burden when he meets British Prime Minister Theresa May on Thursday, French officials say.

He will ask the UK to allow in unaccompanied children and adults with family members already in the country and more money to help with border security.
Tell him to, "Va te faire voir chez les Grecs!
Question Author
surely at this stage they should be repatriated from whence they came,
Question Author
jack
not sure what that is.
It's a French insult. The literal meaning is: Go and let the Greeks see to you, the inference is that ancient Greeks practised homosexuality. It is slightly, but only very slightly, better than the French for eff off. We would say something along the lines of: Go and get stuffed. The French often shorten it to just: Va te faire... the rest being understood.

The French signed up to Schengen, no one forced them,
now they are having problems they want The UK, (who did not sign up)
to help them bail them out.
Bloody cheek!!!
IMHO
It is all part of the ploy to force the UK to allow migrants to travel here without us being able to set up our own planned restrictions as planned. They want to force us to allow unfettered migration until the end of 2020 and to then allow such "migrants" to stay indefinitely. Brussels seeks to block Britain from creating it's own post-Brexit immigration system and to delay a previously agreed cut off point for new arrivals. The EU plan always was to funnel the illegal immigrants towards Britain and indeed allowed, and still does, the illegal immigrants to travel across the EU as long as they are headed in our direction. They are indeed getting twitchy at the prospect of not being able to dump them all here as the covert master plan intended.
...in my not so humble opinion as well.
Do more, or pay more ?

As I see it, we already do more than sufficient. If they don't want camps, ensure they don't form. Make them illegal. Ideally ensure the immigrants aren't allowed to enter France in the first place. If already there, disperse them around France, find them jobs & houses and make them French citizens. Don't send your immigrants to France over here, where they'd be illegal. Any company transporting them should be fined and forced to return them. Those who make their own way should be towed back.

France received a record 100,000 asylum claims in 2017, making it one of the main destinations in Europe.

The president is expected to unveil a new migrant policy next month, which will include speeding up the application process for asylum seekers and faster removal of those who fail to be accepted.
England must have some attractions for these people which France cannot offer or they would stay there. I wonder what those attractions could possibly be.
Part of Macron's plan is to relocate the border to the UK despite current agreements, therefor allowing all failed asylum seekers to be "removed" from France. This removal process will probably enable illegal immigrants to "manage" to reach British shores instead of rocking up at Calais and camping out in the hope of hijacking transport here. Of course once they reach Britain the French border will be much more difficult to cross in the other direction and certainly harder that the ones encountered in getting to France in the first place.
-- answer removed --
perlease, the migrant situation is caused by the EU not implementing their own rules. First safe country, end of. Macron could get shot of most of his by this simple measure.
That would go down a bomb in Greece and Italy!
If Britain can't prevent them coming across by ferry or rail or raft, then neither can France in the other direction. It's the same problem. The camps will most likely simply shift to the beaches and the stations or portsides. Or even on the ferry decks and in the train carriages if they're daft enough to let them on board.
//If Britain can't prevent them coming across by ferry or rail or raft, then neither can France in the other direction.//

Problem is Geezer.......they won't be trying to get back the other way will they? They all want to be in doomed and destined to be destitute Britain for some strange reason, despite us being a right wing cess pit of racism.
