I would rate the USA as a lot more dangerous than the UK ,but I don't suppose the US State department is likely to rate its own country as less safe than being abroad. For example in 2016 the entire UK police force firedjust 7 shots! Yes just 7 bullets for the entire UK police force.
In the USA figures are not available as there are no records are even kept of how many times police open fire. But around 1,000 people a year are shot dead by police every year in the USA.
