This is the road to vigilante heaven.
some would say this is the law, i say humbug, what about his victims, can't even deport the lowlife.
This country is potty!
so he gets a shedload of money and gets to stay here too boot, what madness is this, our law must do better.
Can't see that happening any time soon, Emmie. Madness.
Maybe his victims should sue him for £55000 each.
I weep for my nation.
It rubs salt in the wounds of those who suffered from his acts every time they get this wrong.
He was sentenced and did the time. He was then detained illegally for 21 months. So he is due compensation (of less than £200 a day).
The state cannot keep people locked up for no reason. If we are unhappy with the compensation, we should turn our anger to the people who illegally detained him.
His home country refused to have him back Gromit so I really dont see how continued detention of an alien should be illegal. What do you suggest, let him run amok around the country?

If he was a British citizen and not being deported I could understand your, rather right-on liberal approach.

As suggested above I would suggest the victims take action to get the money off him.
i would definitely do that, sue the little toerag for compensation, drag him through the courts, see how he likes that.
The problem is that he will probably spend it all on bling so he can get back on benefits.

Still, at least Gromit is happy for him.
Interesting to see that Gromit at least is brave enough to state his usual defensive feelings towards such scum, while the other liberal leffties hide behind their monitors.
I agree with Fatalbert. Some way should be found for the victims to sue him for all he's got.
Looks like Gromit is happy to pay this rapist and allow him to stay! How would he feel if aMember of his family was a victim?
I agree that a person unlawfully detained has a right to compensation. The judge should have awarded him 1p.
I would have preferred if Aliou Bah had never come to these shores. However, he did and as he was granted refugee-status, he has rights. Those rights were contravened and he has been compensated for that.

In cases such as these, we really ought to turn our anger against the incompetent Civil Servants who hand Bah and his ilk the opportunity to sue.

The above does not condone or excuse Bah's revolting behaviour and I, too, agree that his victims ought to look at suing him for their dreadful experiences.
It may stick in the crawl, but the government ought to know it's own law. If it doesn't want to free someone they wish to deport then the onus is upon them to pass laws allowing some other action. Detention pending deportation, maybe. And work out some action that prevents a country from refusing a return of their own citizens, and get the world to agree it as international law.
