David Morris seems to think we are abandoning them, how can that be? Ireland is a separate country.

We're not moaning about being 'abandoned' by the UK - we're quiet happy in the EU and David Norris is not a politician as such, he's an eccentric senator that is all mouth - loves to be heard, you're not moving anywhere, ye are still gonna be stuck between us and mainland europe - he speaks such tosh, I notice he is being interviewed on BBC4, because RTÉ are fed up...

well why is Ireland moaning about being "abandoned" by the UK then?
Ireland isn't moaning.....the Irish know only too well what they gained from being in Europe.......
And as for Britain being a good neighbour and ally????.... :-)

I think he's spent too long in Murphy's drinking the black stuff!
which black stuff - murphy's, guinness, or crude oil...?
Senator David Norris - Never heard of him.

Independent for a University constituency, gay rights activist. Basically just some Irish bloke not really representative of anyone but himself.
We would welcome them to join us. Their choice. Rather, well, possibly in-though-out answer Islay?
^^ un-thought-out, sorry.
If we are so pivotal to balanceing EU for the little nations then they shouldn't have taken us for granted perhaps!!

Personally although on the one hand I think we shouldn't on the other I think we should just make a one off payment tothe EU of three years worth of payments and be done with it.

A clean break.

trade short term would be WTO rates and we then make a trade deal if The EU plays nicely. If they don't,we as the people of our nation should see them for what they are and use our spending power to show them just how much we need them.
//use our spending power to show them just how much we need them. //

Incomes in the UK have already been declining for years, as has consumer spending. Foreign direct investment has nosedived in the last year.

The spending power you want us to rely on to show our strength is rather in jeopardy...
Watch out Kromo, on March 29th 2108 Midnight CET the sky will fall in.
//Ireland isn't moaning.....the Irish know only too well what they gained from being in Europe//

And with the second biggest contributor leaving this is likely to cease, possibly why some of the smaller Nations see it as abandoning them
Well I think citing our spending power is a bit short-sighted when it's directly linked to the strength of the pound (which even the most ardent Brexiteers think will take a dip) and our consumer spending, which has been weak since 2008. That's a bit like sawing away the tree branch you're sitting on.
We don't owe Europe a penny, they owe us!

He's living in his Bloomsday era, look up the old f&art - he's a gobshyte
I was having a lovely morning
Just seen Gromit's reply, 'never heard of him' sums him up really well, this is a non news topic when you see who said it. I think the gov't forget he's still around, prob thought they buried him years back in glasnevin - he can eff off
Well said ducksie. ;o}
Thanks boaty - what a knob that norris is
You ain't wrong! ;o}
Lol Ducksie very well worded - although I still think the second would be off!
Did I not put off Islay ;) I tell ya, I'm fuming here that someone put a mic in front of that lad, my goodness his voice and policies gets on my wick, they even tried to shut down the seanad - I think it was because it would be a way to get rid of that old fogey
