Now even Robert Peston says voting remain was a mistake, are you going to see the light too?
He says;

" I now fear that those that did [vote leave] were on the right side of an important argument and the right side of history.”

In an interview with Iain Dale, Peston said:

“When I discovered it wasn’t just me but my entire circle were out of touch with millions of people I genuinely felt ashamed… this was the only opportunity millions of people were ever going to have to say to the people who run this place ‘you’re not listening to us’, it was a massive wake up call to everybody… I take my hat off to them, they have thrown all the cards up in the air… it was the right thing to do.”

Once upon a time Great Britain led the world & the world followed. Because I am old I can remember when we were on our own & in front. Loads of Brits these days can only know a life being linked to Europe, which is why there is so much controversy over Go or Remain. Germany made 2 attempts to force their will upon us & failed. At last with the help of traitorous France an...

The nonsense comes in the form of believeing there are only two types of remained. The arrogance comes from your belief that you are correct that there are only two.
Remainers
‘Many people voted to leave the EU regardless of any effect it might have on the economy‘

Further arrogance. Or at least conceit.

But there were only -quite rightly- two choices; viz. Do you wish to remain a member of the EU. or, Do you wish to leave the EU?
A simple clear choice, but after things didn't work out as you wanted, it was not enough for the whining losers such as yourself, who probably subscribe to this kind of canting rubbish;

http://blogs.lse.ac.uk/brexit/2017/05/17/the-brexit-referendum-question-was-flawed-in-its-design/

You sound like Hilary Clinton!
Even William Hague has said that, if there were to be a 2nd referendum, he would vote leave. Good B.A..
The odds on Zac's master's winning the eagerly contested VE "Sneer of the Year" award have shortened considerably after his contributions to this thread.

Thye other favourites need to up their game.
"The nonsense comes in the form of believeing there are only two types of remained."

Perhaps I should have qualified my answer with "two main camps". I suggest they cover probably >90% of remainers. Perhaps you could tell me what other types there are.
I would imaging the types are multifarious. Well done for admitting your mistake tho.

Khandro, your assumption that I fall into a particular catagory, so that you can speculate wildly about what type of stance I have on Brexit simply puts you in the same camp as NJ.

I can understand you leave voters being frustrated but please don’t vent your anger on us remainers for the unholy mess this has become. We have a largly pro European untrustworthy government. How did you think it was going to turn out?
It is not so surprising that people would not have changed their minds on how they would vote. To date, while the evidence is mounting that leaving the EU is not good for the economy, that argument was overridden by "sovereignty", "cost" and "immigration" anyway and those factors are still imponderables, or future attractions still to be dangled. Many who voted Remain will also have done so with litle enthusiasm - by no mean everyone on either side has the passionate convictions those on message boards do. Many will think "well, X was voted for, let's do X"
It was a mistake joining in the first place. I could see that Ted Heath was lying to us, I couldn't understand why so many others couldn't.
Because we were young and foolish, WB. To my eternal shame I voted to remain in 1975.

The young are easily led (as evidenced by the ridiculous support among the young for Jeremy Corbyn). By any measure imaginable and as bad as the current government is, a government led by him would be an absolute disaster for the UK. The conundrum arises when you try to reconcile these two things:

1. The high level of support among the young for the UK's membership of the EU (which they presumably think will bring economic benefits to the UK - as well as them being able to travel to Europe which many believe will be impossible if we leave) with

2. That same age group's support for JC to be Prime Minister when perhaps the economic advantages will be, shall we be kind and say, somewhat less.
Being easily led is, despite the attitudes of many here, not a characteristic confined to "the young".

Is that an admission Jim?
It might as well be. I am sure that, like everyone else on AB, I try to be free-thinking and not so "easily led". But when "free-thinking" people tend to arrive at the same conclusion for the same reason you should probably at least question whether you were thinking as freely as you thought you were.

Groupthink is a powerful thing, very difficult to resist, and most people aren't nearly as good at avoiding it as they think they are.
No, Jim, it's not confined to the young. But it's certainly more prevalent amongst that age group.
v_e @ 22.57 on Sneer of the Year Award. Can we buy tickets please?
The counter of course is that the older one gets the more "set in one's ways" one tends to be. So it works both ways.

At any rate, being old isn't an excuse for being smug about how liberated you are from certain dogmas. More likely than not, you just get stuck in different ones. It happens to everyone.
In all of the debates on here I think WBM's comment:
'I could see that Ted Heath was lying to us, I couldn't understand why so many others couldn't.'
Probably sums up the situation we now find ourselves in the best.
This is my opinion ...

Ask me again in 20 years time - i need to make sure my opinion is correct
