He might have only started to take more notice last year, what with the rise of the BLM movement that was trying to address the same issue.

Also, v-e... what?
He might have ...................................................
Trump made this a political issue because he knows his audience/electorate.
The sight of rich black men protesting offends Trump voters, so he tweets they should be sacked, and that makes Trump voters happy.

No.

No action should be taken.

Re: your patriotism/multiculturalism point. Nice try.
The NFL''s Game Operations Manual says about the anthem,

"The National Anthem must be played prior to every NFL game, and all players must be on the sideline for the National Anthem.
During the National Anthem, players on the field and bench area should stand at attention, face the flag, hold helmets in their left hand, and refrain from talking."

The anthem MUST be played but players SHOULD stand, not MUST stand.

// shooting the first 100 should create an adequate deterrent to #101 pursuing his or her claim. //

You'd think so, but surely it would be better to shoot 101 just in case.

Or, ..oh I don't know - perhaps just abolish the institution of a monarchy altogether and save 101 bullets.
When the North Koreans attack, the military should 'take the knee' and leave the NFL players to sort them out.
As Jim said, kneeling was actually arrived at as a respectful compromise between a person who wanted to sit during the anthem as a peaceful protest against police brutality, and someone who felt the anthem should be acknowledged. It was a product of dialogue between the two sides which has since become widespread.

Honestly if this isn't to be allowed then it is difficult to understand what kind of protest *is* supposed to be acceptable in a free society. Patriotism should not be an obligation, and I think the USA has a weird and culty attitude towards it. I would not like to see it replicated in Britain.
The players do actually play the game, Spicerack ...
I realise it's the duty of every loyal Scotsman to seek out cheap, or preferably free, alcohol but I think, Corby, you should stop being so boorish and have more respect for the environs and people you have chosen to surround yourself with.
Personally, I wouldn't be seen dead in a mosque but I'd warrant you wouldn't wear your boots in one. And your little lefty friends wouldn't think it such a wheeze if you did.
Another ploy has been tried, a couple of weeks back,' The Pittsburgh Steelers stayed out of the stadium until “The Star-Spangled Banner” was over—well, except for Alejandro Villanueva, the West Point graduate who was an Army Ranger for three tours in Afghanistan; he stood on the field by himself. But the Steelers gesture seems like a “cat ate my homework” ploy. “Oh, sorry, we didn’t get here in time for the national anthem.” I’m calling unsportsmanlike conduct on that one. You can’t avoid taking a knee by not making your knee available.'

Khandro, if you're going to copy and paste wholesale from another website rather than write your own thoughts, you might at least say you're doing it and perhaps even provide a link ...

oh dear, is Khandro accidentally forgetting to cite his sources again? At least it wasn't Katie Hopkins this time.
Thanks for the link ellipsis, but if you have read it you will see it wasn't exactly cut and paste.
anneasquith "Woof are you royalty ?"
at some level we are all related...if Buenchico is going to keep shooting eventually he will get to me....unless of course he is more closely related to royalty than I am in which case the rest of us are safe :)
Khandro, when you pasted "I’m calling unsportsmanlike conduct on that one", who did the "I" refer to?
As I saw questioned elsewhere on t'internet, where were the players standing up for the social injustice to women regularly assaulted by NFL team mates?

Just askin'....
Presumably they did not see standing for the national anthem as indicating their support for their fellow players' abuse of women, whereas they did see it as indicating their support for the police's abuse of black people.
SPICERACK the reasons for my being at the Legion are neither here nor there. It was the first and only time I've been there, I don't stand for the National Anthem anywhere else and it would have been hypocritical of me to do so at the Legion.

save 101 bullets

not how it's done here. The English pioneered regicide, remember, setting an example for the backward French and Russians. Benjamin Beckman must go.
