Or is it just that ISIS who wants to take credit for this mass murder?

I'm told that I will be disappointed if this mass murder was done in the name of Islam. What an incredibly ignorant thing to say.

But surely, not as disappointed as a lot of people must be feeling this morning, that the FBI can't pin this on Muslim terrorism, which would have been nice and convenient.

This man had 23 guns in his hotel room, as well as "in excess of" 19 firearms and explosives at his Nevada home. They also found explosive in his car. The Police have yet to check another of his homes.

This crime has all the hallmarks of an attack by a American lone wolf nutter, who was allowed to build up an arms cache far in excess of anything that could be defined as necessary for his own personal protection.

Despite having all these weapons, he was apparently "not known" to the Police. How anybody could build up such an arsenal as he did, most of which appear to have been bought legally, without become "known" is beyond me.

My heart goes out to all the dead, as they appear to have died because this nutcase had been allowed to flourish.
Never mind the fact that he had possession of guns and ammunition. How the hell do you get 23 guns with enough ammo to start a war into an Hotel room undetected? Have you any idea how much gear that is and the weight?
Togo....lots of questions need to be asked. But the first and most important is how the gun laws are so lax in Nevada, that one man can build up an arsenal of this size.
He had days to do it, people go in and out of hotels in Vegas with shopping etc so I'm sure he could have built it up providing he didnt allow room service in.
The gun laws in Nevada are lax because the voters of that state and their representatives are content for it to be that way.
It's strange to outside eyes but it's a fact of life where they are, much as having more than one wife is in other parts.
I'm sure the relatives of the dead and injured are just delighted
YMB....yes, entirely possible he did it that way. This was a carefully planned attack, in which a great deal of preparation must have gone on......all under the noses of the authorities.

Some American anti-gun control tawt is being interviewed on the radio at the moment, and he is annoying me so much, I have switched the radio off.
But as I have pointed out on another thread I dont think this particular case has much to do with anti gun laws. He was very determined and appears to be a millionaire so had money to buy illegal weapons if necessary. Weapons are available even in the UK if you have the will and the cash.
Is that not the equivalent of putting your fingers in your ears and saying lalalalalalala, Mikey?

Maybe just go back to the cheap wine posts.
Dougie...I have heard tawts like him before. In fact people like him will be being interviewed all over America in a few hours time.

He was stupid and ignorant. He compared banning cars, just because they cause unnecessary deaths every year. There was more of the same. Its a good job I wasn't shaving when the interview was on.

I think its safe to turn the Today Programme on again now.
Mickey, not listening to the other side and failing to see where they are coming from does not allow you to formulate a good argument against them.

For instance I cant stand listening to Corbyn and Co. But I do otherwise my arguments could be ripped to shreds immediately.
YMB...listen to this chap, on the Iplayer, and tell me what you think.

By the way, I just switched the radio back on, and Mrs May is on !
//Weapons are available even in the UK if you have the will and the cash. //

Indeed. As I said earlier, people who obtain guns for criminal purposes don't apply for licences.
If it's true, - and it should be easy to ascertain - that he is a recent convert to Islam, then that is the obvious direction to look. As yet, no "lone wolves" have acted entirely alone. If contacts exist, they will be found.

As an aside, I have just learnt that the AfD in Germany have declared Islam to be a POLITICAL movement, a concept (imo) long overdue. I have long said that it is 80% political and 20% religion - or thereabouts.
Khandro....The FBI have stated that there is no evidence that Paddock had any connection with Islam whatsoever.

And yes, lone wolves DO act alone...all the time.
Khandro, //I have long said that it is 80% political and 20% religion //

If anything, I'd say it's the other way around. Without the religion the politics wouldn't exist at all.
The AfD Khandro? Really? The same AfD who once said that the Holocaust Memorial in Berlin was a 'monument of shame'? Bjorn Hocke, what a guy! Get a grip, it doesn't matter what the AfD think, fortunately the vast majority of decent Germans can't be doing with the xenophbic, gender biased, anti-equality policies. We have to deal with that muppet Hocke spouting his hate filled nonsense in Thuringen, we really don't need it being promoted over here as something wonderful.
//fortunately the vast majority of decent Germans can't be doing with the xenophbic, gender biased, anti-equality policies.//

Strange how people rant about the gender-bias and anti-equality in one group and completely ignore it in another. None more gender-biased and anti-equality than Islam.

/// As an aside, I have just learnt that the AfD in Germany have declared Islam to be a POLITICAL movement, a concept (imo) long overdue. ///

If that is true, could we see Islam becoming a banned political group in the UK?
Klavadir; //The same AfD who once said that the Holocaust Memorial in Berlin was a 'monument of shame'?//
That is a lie, the AfD didn't say it, Bjorn Hocke did, and for which the party has expelled him. What a stupid rant, get a grip, yourself.
