How likely is remain to win considering all the rhetoric from the EU being about 'ever closer ties' etc.

There will always be die hard Remainers that will not accept that out will ever be right but for the others I wonder if they actually listen and understand?

Who he?
Presumably the Good Doctor Cable.

It's academic and of little importance but following Mr Junckers' intervention last week I imagine the Leave vote would increase by at least 10% if a referendum was held today.
Think cassa must mean Vince Cable. No chance of another and after the way the EU beaurocrats have behaved I think the majority to Leave would be bigger. No-one in their right mind could imagine that we could retain the status quo now. We'd be forced to join the Euro as a condition of rejoining and to accept all the other horrors Junker announced this week.

I do find it strange that the Lib Dems don't appear to understand democracy
Addressing the Parliament in response to Mr Juncker’s speech, Mr Nigel Farage said: “All I can say is, ‘Thank God we’re leaving’.”

If the Lib Dems are to be the ‘common sense’ alternative as Cable says, then maybe they should start showing some.
Well he won't convince "The Beast of Bolsover".

The 'closer ties' are largely things than the UK had a veto over and would not almost certainly not happen were the UK to stay in
ichkeria you really think that the UK have any power to stop anything happening in the EU?
Kathyan, yes, they do. They could stop Turkey joining, for instance - though lying Brexiteers said otherwise.
Oh here we go anything the Leavers say is a lie and anything the remainers say is the truth!
In this case, though, it's true: prospective EU members need all current members to approve their application. Ergo, the UK has a veto over Turkish membership. It's simply a fact. If Leavers pretended otherwise that's them lying in this case, with no ambiguity.
jim; //it's true: prospective EU members need all current members to approve their application//

Not so! We went through this some time ago on here and much research was done. It appears that a accepted prospective member has only to satisfy the list of requirements and their entry is automatic.
I seem to remember we paid Turkey £300 million or some-such trifle to help them prepare their entry to the EU.

Yes it was Cable I forgot to put the link on. Sorry.

I think the rhetoric of the EU of ever closer ties would have insidiously come about regardless of our veto. Given time we would have been stripped of what little veto power we had. The simple fact is that the EU and Junker in particular have had that goal (ever closer ties, strip member states of power etc) for some time.

Do the Europhiles still think staying is the best option?

With what we know now would the vote go to remain if done again?

I can't answer the first as I am a Brexiter but the second, I would hazard a guess at this time MORE people would vote leave.
What facts support your claim that Junker wants to form closer ties but strip away vetos?
I love Dennis Skinner :-) ( tedious Theresa ) LOL

Oh I suppose I just listen to what he says. It is a simple enough skill. I appreciate that people with different views hear the nuances of the spoken word differently but at some point it becomes so bleeding obvious no one can legitimately deny what has been said. Spin can only work so far.

They are thinking of stripping Poland of voting powers for not towing the line and at one point, can't remember exactly when, there was talk of 'down grading' UK influence because we kept vetoing things.

Sorry but your interpretation of Junkers nuances of language ain't facts. And it's not 'bleedin obvious' to me.
