I can understand the concern of the parents involved - they're being confronted with something they don't understand, but withdrawing their children from contact with all other children in their school?

Is that wise?

What would you do?

And wearing 'girls' clothes doesn't make him transgender either. He might just prefer them. He could completely think of himself as a boy but just prefers the girls clothes.

My son used to walk about the house in my daughters bridesmaid dress on a regular basis.

My son also refused to leave the house unless he had clothes pegs in his hair.
On what basis could the school actually be sued?
I agree, ummm. It's nothing to do with transgender. Wearing or wanting to wear a dress is not intrinsically female. It's just a uniform issue- which is partly why I don't like them anyway.
I can't see a reason. That's why they're trying to stop it rather than suing.
Clothes pegs??? That is a new and novel, even for my open mind!

:-)
No, of course not.

But there is no firm evidence that there IS a transgender child at the school ::::

As for the dress at school the simple answer is trousers for all no exceptions.
The question then becomes, as was pointed out in a paper today, why is another school insisting they all wear trousers thus becoming all boy only genders?
"The world is full of different people"
What has that got to do with it.
They are at school, with rules that have to be followed, it is called discipline.
Yes, the world is full of different people, but that is a school and that isn't the world.
Nonsense.
You are at my school, these are the rules and if you don't like them, go somewhere else.
Is this really the second time they've done this?....Unbelievable...x
To be fair, the first time didn't get the media attention they were looking for, so they had to try a second time to make sure people were paying attention.
OK, I shall reword it - I have taught my child there are many different people in the world and more than that, they don't all dress the way you might immediately expect them to.

Now do your homework.
The parents are hypocritical, even bigoted, as this goes against the spirit of understanding and tolerance that is spoken of in the Bible and associated writings. The school head should tell them where to jump off, even nominating the pier for swimming back to the mainland.
Nobody bats their eyes at tomboys - little girls who refuse to wear dresses, ribbons and pink. And nor should they
Oh! dear...........
Exactly, Sqad...you're right.....these two people were told that the school is following school rules and they refuse to accept it.

They say they should be consulted before the school does that....(follow the rules that is)

Why?...So they can change the school rules to suit them?...x
Eccles..it was so funny. Sometimes I'd think we were going to make it out the door but then he'd go into a panic. They were like his little blanket.

You think that's strange....my uncle had an attachment to a clock.

Children are different....it's just whether the school should accommodate how different they are or whether other parents really should give two hoots.

Set them up for teasing in later school years....or hopefully the other kids will just accept it. I expect the former though.
Yes, Sqad, the world has moved on. By the way, some societies, like in India, Samoa and Polynesia even recognise that there are three sexes....
Question Author
I find this part genuinely disturbing:

//They called for the young transgender boy to be helped in a “private space”, rather than in the public sphere of a school.//

What on earth were they thinking!?!!
DTC....what has that got to do with it? Samoa, Polynesia etc.
This is the UK..BUT..you are correct, the world has moved on.
For the better?
That what is so wrong, sp.

They obviously don't understand children.
