About time.

I found it astonishing that the NHS wasted money on this entirely unproven quackery.

At very best these sugar pills and water may act on the gullible as a placebo, but was that enough of a reason to warrant the £200m spent?

If people want to take homeopathic remedies, its entirely up to them, but the NHS shouldn't waste its finite resources on them.

and yes....good joke Jim !

jno...I am glad that you feel that you get some benefit from rescue Remedy, but it can't possibly be due to the remedy itself, as that is just plain water, with some brandy added.

From the Wiki entry :::

"The dilution process results in the statistical likelihood that little more than a single molecule may remain; it is claimed that the remedies contain energetic or vibrational nature of the flower and that this can be transmitted to the user"

Save yourself some money and make your own Brandy and water....in fact, make yourself a large one, as I am sure it will have a similar effect !
"Small sweeties and bottles of water can be had in any shop for a lot less than the price of a prescription."

Not when the prescription is provided free of charge, douglas (as 90% of them are).
NJ....out of curiosity, what would you have said, if an expert witness, in Court, tried to defend Rescue Remedy because if its "vibrational nature of the flower" ?
I have just looked up Rescue Remedy on ebay. Its available for £5.09, including p+p.

In the same discussion about this on Radio Four this morning, it was said that some GPs are still writing scrips for Paracetamol. I can get this for a few pence in any shop, so why have some NHS Doctors been allowed to continue to waste NHS funds for all this time ?
I think I might question his competence (and his sanity) Mikey :-)
Yes, me too NJ !

But this is a real issue....Doctors should not be allowed to waste NHS funds on Paracetamol, and other cheap, easily available drugs. There have been many discussion about this, and homeopathic prescribing, over the years.

Perhaps this latest move will end this practise for good.
Thanks Fender...very funny !

Perhaps Talbot should watch this clip !
some people do not see the irony of it, oh the moobs
You will have to help me Fender, with "the noobs"
I largely agree with your comment on Paracetamol except for those who have to take the max dose per day long term, often these same people struggling to get access to a larger pharmacy that will sell more than a couple of days worth.

There are many areas where cost cutting that on the face of it seem small but together they mount up.
I have to take the maximum dose of co-codamol which contains paracetamol. Is Mikey suggesting that I should not get it on prescription?
Mamy....good point about the large doses....I hadn't thought of that !
Danny....no, I am certainly not. But there are stories about people going to the Docs and leaving with a scrip for 50ps worth of Paracetamol. It could be that these stories are apocryphal, in which case please accept my apologies !
I get both co-cods and occasionally Paracetamol in 100 packs on scrip too.
I get 200 at a time on prescription. No idea what that would cost over the counter.
Thanks everybody !
wow,just checked on line 200 tabs £66
Ouch.
