Ummm only "suspects", she doesnt profess to know anything.

Let's face it, she has a 50% chance of being right. She either knew and/or colluded with her brother or she had no idea.

AOG - I don't know that and that's why I put 'suspect'

Regardless....if I was the employer I would have sacked her. Like I said....it's not worth the risk.
lol @ Alba. The former Mr BM was once vetted to a high level. The form had me in stitches.

Are you a terrorist?
Have you had any links to Terrorism?
Are you sure you are not a terrorist?

Because your average terrorist will ALWAYS answer honestly.

I am sure there is a valid reason for these questions, but at face value they were quite amusing.
I know we are asked that every 5 years!! lol part of me is tempted to say yes we know some terrorist just to see if anyone reads what we put down!!
Years ago my friend coughed to having been involved in communist marches - to which his superior officer said 'I know'!! apparently he had shown up on a 'list' somewhere!!
Why all this bother over her sacking?

When a foreign criminal has been caught, many on AB have said in the past,

"Send him, and the rest of his family back from whence they came"

Dannyk > It would seem that they have been found guilty by association.

We don't know but very unfortunate for her if that is the case.
Bm :-)
sounds like the same form Mr Alba had to complete !

Islay, I dare you!!
(on second thoughts, don't!) xx
She can blame her brother for that!

AOG > Why all this bother over her sacking?

Would you like to be sacked if you knew you had done nothing wrong except to be associated with a terrorist? (Please don't take this as me suggesting you have terrorist connections!!)
Maybe she just wasn't good at her job, regardless of who her relations are/were?
agchristie

We have to think of the safety of thousands, the feelings of one particular person doesn't come into it.
I have often wondered how families who have a member who commits an atrocity cope when they knew absolutely nothing about what their relative was doing or planning. I'm not in any way denigrating the victim or their families of such atrocity but there must be a significant psychological impact to learn that someone with whom you have a close blood link was capable of terrorism or murder or the like. Not only that but you probably also have to cope with suspicion and finger pointing "they must have known".

Alba > Maybe she just wasn't good at her job...

A point which Douglas made earlier. It can't be ruled out of course, but if she was competent enough and had not done anything wrong, did the airport have no alternative but to fire her?
I wonder if so much support would have been shown, if it had happened to be his brother who was sacked?
In her situation I would not like to be sacked!
But given the circumstances I would accept it as inevitable.
Actually I am surprised the vetting process did not pick up her family connections to a known terrorist sympathizer in the first place.
That is the aspect that needs investigation.
Are you saying AOG she is only getting support because she is female?

AOG > We have to think of the safety of thousands...

Indeed, but if she posed no risk?
Do you think MI5 looks at the vetting forms Eddie?

Barmaid at 10.09 - good post and an interesting angle to come from...
Did they have to sack her?

I dont know. I do doubt they sacked her because she was a risk (if she were a risk one would hope that the authorities would have identified her as such). My suspicion is that they felt they had no alternative in the murky world of security clearance. I dont know how it's done but I rather imagine having a brother who has committed a terrorist activity is probably a big black mark irrespective of whether she is completely innocent or not.
