So how did these get fire safety certificates? Just how bent is the fire service inspection process? They must be conspiring with builders etc. terrifying. Heads need to roll over this. I can remember how rigorous fire inspections were when I was secretary of a club, pity they don't do the same thorough job with tower blocks.

What a horrible time the 60's 70's and 80's were.
Filled with paedofillic monsters, shady contractrors, bent coppers, hijacked airplanes...

A good rule of thumb for any contractor now should be "Would i be happy to put this in the house of common or , buckingham palace"
It's not the fire brigade inspectors , unless a building is so unsafe as make it unfit for habitation in the case of the Camden block , they just make a recommendation. The actual grant or not of a fire safety certificate is down to the council. Normally a fire brigade recommendation that a certificate not be granted would ensure that the house / housing in question was not granted a certificate. But in the present situation it is becoming obvious that 'palms were greased '
The police investigation into this looks certain to result in manslaughter charges !
