They have trademarked Harpers name. What does it mean? Can no one else be called Harper or is that something different?

Haven't they trademarked all their products?
oops ...... Children
Unsure. It might mean that the world's going mad.
It means they can sell a £10 product for 50 quid cos it has Harper's name on it.
I think they have with all their children. It stops other people bringing out a range and calling it Harper's shoes or Harper's brekkie mix (I think)

Is it the same as copyrighting?
I expect you can't market goods with that name, but nothing to stop you calling yourself Harper Beckham Caran.

Piers Morgan does have a point, though: can they demand privacy for their children while also trademarking them? Would the Mail be able to run a story about Harper being a naughty girl at school, as long as they printed it on the business pages and said the brand was being put at tisk?
or even risk
Harper that's bazaar ,I'll get the coat

Thank you Mamya that was very helpful.
Thank you all for your comments, much appreciated.
Perhaps they trademarked the little girl's name to prevent others exploiting or indeed misusing it. Has anyone asked the Beckhams?
It has been in the Press, as stated all the children's names are trademarked, to allow them to use their own name in any future business venture.
The name Harper is just ridiculous but what's even more tragic is that silly bits are copying her and giving their own daughters that moniker.

Classy...not!
I am sure that Mamy is right @ 22:15, but if they had not done so..........do you think that "someone" else outside the immediate family would have done so? Perhaps someone who you would not want your children "linked" to, however tenuously.
Peterborough united had been known as "the posh" since the 1920s. then Victoria beckham trademarked the name and promptly took peterborough united to court. she won. it would not surprise if this move led to court cases involving others who've had beckham-related names for more years than the beckhams have been alive.
i wouldn't say Harper is a ridiculous name. No one ever said that about Harper Lee.
Mushroom......I'd seriously have look back at the news reports about Posh Spice and Peterborough United. You might want to look at the date of the articles. Like this one:

Cloverjo, yes, that's who she was named after. Nothing specially outlandish about it.
