Assad the Butcher has been committing war crimes on an unprecedented scale for years. The world has just stood around muttering but not actually doing anything. I am far from being a Trump fan, but handsome is as handsome does as far I am concerned. I give my full support to this action.
YMB....I have never said that Trump is Putin's puppet.
What I have said is that Trump was the first modern President of the USA, to be elected, who was a friend of the Russians. If he now keeping his distance, then all to the good.
Handsome is and handsome does, as I have already made clear.
I think Trump's attitude before was "Obama and (especially) Clinton don't like Putin, I don't like them ergo he must have something going for him" Meanwhile the Russians plainly saw Trump has someone who could drive a wedge between the US, NATO and the EU. Someone who was all for doing dodgy deals, keeping the US out of conflicts and allowing them to pretty much get on with their nefarious deeds unhindered.
But the realities have now kicked in.
Bannon's been ousted from the NSC, meanwhile, and Trump has been sounding off that the EU "has a great future".
What's the Russian for "pear-shaped"? :-)
Maybe Ron, but the problem with doing that is you probably cause a dangerous power vacuum, or at any rate just allow another equally vile creature to replace him. It's very uncertain.

It sounds like you too are beginning to see the light.
I have never advocated "taking Assad out". Or "invading Syria". But moral questions aside, there is no realistic prospect of a settlement if he, or indeed many of his ruling class, are involved.
The right decision for me and like others say I wish they'd gone further and bombed the palaces! Our Defence Secretary said we will not get involved which I agree with, but whether that will change or not, I have no idea.
From AOG's link:
'He wasn't Putin's puppet after all. I'm officially OFF the Trump train.' Gormless does not begin to do it justice. And that guy's British.

That's not how I have read it; you have consistently wanted his removal - along with chemical weapons expert, mikey, and AB's growing regiment of armchair warriors.
How do you think this could be achieved, - asking him politely if he wouldn't mind emigrating?
"US bombards Syrian air base with 59 Tomahawk missiles
Donald Trump retaliates for 'Assad's chemical weapons attack'
Four children 'among nine civilians killed' along with six soldiers
Kremlin warns act of 'aggression' damages ties with America."
One thing is for certain today....Assad the Butcher will think twice, and probably thrice, before he orders his jets to bomb women and children with Sarin Gas again !
What extraordinary times! I have supported (as it were) Trump throughout his election campaign and again since he took office, now I totally reject and condemn his intervention in Syria but find he gains support for the first time from the likes of ichkeria, mikey and wait for it ... Hilary Clinton!!!
If all that wasn't enough, who do I find I am now siding with? none other than Jeremy Corbyn!! Never thought this day would come.
